A boy walks alone in the crowded halls of his school.

It's 10:00 am, recess time, and usually he spends it with his best friend. But ever since she got a new boyfriend, she got busier and busier until he became just someone she can talk to whenever the boy she really loved was not available. He's now just a past time, someone who can be cast aside when she's not in the mood to acknowledge his existence.

"At least she's happy." He thought. Her happiness was his happiness, he always told himself. But it's hard to convince yourself that you're happy when the girl you love is in love with someone else.

Why him, he thought. Why not me, what do I lack, where did I go wrong? They're questions that will never be answered.

He makes his way to the school's main canteen, trying to see what snack to buy when he spots her over at the corner. Her hair is in a braid, even though she's told him time and time again that she hated having her hair tied because it itches. She's laughing and smiling and her eyes are bright and gleaming.

Next to her, to Luna, is Earth. His arm is around her and it made Sol's heart break and crack and shatter completely.

He wonders if he confessed, maybe he would be the one sitting next to her right now.

"I probably look pathetic," he muttered. Standing there all by himself, staring at the girl he loved in the arms of his ex best friend and sulking, he shook his head. "I should just grab something and leave."

He walks towards a random stall, getting the last energy drink when another hand shot up to get it.

Sol was never one to just give up something he already had (except for Luna, although she was never really his to begin with.) but he was just too tired to have an argument over a drink so he let it go.

"Thanks Sol," she said. "I'll buy you something else, if you want?"

Sol looked up and saw Luna, smiling. It just broke him to see her so happy when he's so miserable without her. He feels like he just lost everything, because she was his everything.

He pushed away his feelings. He couldn't be selfish, not with Luna. She deserved to be happy and to be loved. If she does not choose him, he doesn't have a choice but to accept it and let her make her own decisions. He loves her too much to force her into a relationship she does not want with someone she does not love.

He wonders why and how he became such a martyr.

"It's okay. I'm not hungry anyway."

Things were awkward, really awkward, because they've never been this way. They were always Sol & Luna, inseparable friends who are probably joined at the hip. It was always the two of them.

But now it's Earth & Luna with Sol trailing behind them.

It was a stupid love triangle and he hated it. Because Earth and Luna clearly loved each other and Sol was the third wheel.

It was like Luna spun around Earth, her life revolving around him, while Sol was forced to watch their lives unfold before his eyes and not be able to do anything about it. He was now just a bystander.

It's Earth and Luna and Sol and . . . Venus?

Behind Luna he can clearly see Earth checking Venus out, winking at her and flirting with her like the asshole he is even though Luna was literally right in front of him. His mouth dropped when he laced his fingers with Venus', then letting her leave before anyone else could notice.

He didn't know what to say, but he decided to keep his mouth shut. For now.

"Oh, okay then. I'm sorry I'm not always around, Sol. Earth is just one jealous little bean, but you know? He's my jealous little bean."

He cringes. He thought Luna hated stupid and pointless pet names. She would always laugh at couples who called each other silly things like "booboo", "sugar plum", "honey bunches", and of course, "little bean".

"Might as well call each other more ingredients or, I've got one, 'pre-heat oven'." He can hear her say.

But that was the Luna before Earth. The Luna that was her best friend. The Luna that was always by his side, laughing at his bad jokes and terrible puns.

"Yeah, whatever. I don't need to know your ridiculous pet name for him."

Luna raised an eyebrow. She was confused because she didn't know what Sol would give up just to have her by his side again. "Well, aren't you cranky? What, you didn't get to drink your morning coffee?"

"It's only been a week and already you forgot that I hate coffee. Did Earth already erase your memories that I used to exist in your life or are you just too caught up in your stupid fairytale that you and Earth are meant to be?"

Luna was too shocked to say anything, opening her mouth then closing it again as she is at a loss for words. But Sol, however, would not stop talking.

"I can't believe you were stupid enough to fall for someone like Earth."

"Sol-"

"He's insensitive and a liar, he takes advantage of people. He uses them for his own personal gain then he'll cast you aside when he's done with you." Sol looked at Luna dead in the eye. He's angry and hurt and he would not let himself break down.

"That's not-"

"Not true? What lies did he feed you to make you believe he loves you? God, Luna, you're so blind to the fact that he's cheating on you. He literally just flirted with Venus behind your back five seconds ago! You think you know him but you don't, you never will. If you continue being so naive and gullible, you'll always end up as the sad little girl that everyone pities. The sad little girl with no father and a mother who's always working. The sad little girl that always follows someone else like a lost puppy." As soon as he shut his mouth, he instantly regretted every word he said. Was he stupid? Yes, probably. Did he want to be swallowed up by the ground and never resurface? Absolutely. Did he mean every single word he said? No, he did not.

"What the hell is your problem?" She kept her voice low but Sol can clearly hear and feel the coldness in her tone, wincing as he listened to what else she had to say. "You think you know what's best for me but you don't, and you have no right to tell me what to do and who I should love. You're not my boyfriend, you're not my father and you're not my best friend anymore.

And just like that, Luna walked away from Sol and never looked back.
