It wasn't until the end of the day that I remembered that I have other problems as well as the mysterious sky. I had been curious all day, my mind thirsty for answers. The sky hadn't changed and neither had my knowledge of it. However I was brought back to reality and faced with the question that I had been wondering my whole life.
At the age of 16 everyone in Teleios is asked to choose a talent to pursue. We went into a school for that talent alone, almost like a college or university, where we were trained and taught to become amazing at it. After all practice makes perfect. We would leave our ordinary education and perfect our talent. However we have to apply to make sure we were good enough and if we aren't we won't get accepted. Of course that never happens. Never. Everyone here has a gift and they know what they're good at, everyone accept me. This had haunted the back of my mind my entire life but now it was serious, now I had to make a choice. I don't what happens if someone is not accepted because everyone always is. No one one ever doubts they will.
"Class, as you know you will not be attending this school for much longer. You must begin to think about deciding your future."
I gulped. Future. That was what always kept me going and told me it was okay when I thought about this. It was in the future, far away from where I was now. I guess it is no longer far away though. The future is getting closer.
"You must choose what you are best at, the skill you feel you can achieve perfection in." Then our teacher began to explain about the different departments and what talents they offer courses for. We were given out small leaflets even though most of us know all this already.
"It is important that you start planning your application right away, as soon as you know what you want to do. They need to show off the best of your ability, they must be flawless."
I raised my hand. Our teacher sighed
"Yes, miss Summers."
"Miss?" I asked. "What happens if we don't get accepted?"
She seemed quite taken aback by my question.
" To get accepted you must decide what you are best at, that's why it's crucial to know your strengths and make the right decision."
"Yes, but what happens if we aren't?!"
"If you make the right decisi-"
"But if they refuse your application what happens then?!" I snapped, cutting her off. She seemed really annoyed now.
"Do not interrupt me again Collette. If you make the right decision you-" but I interpreted her again.
"NO BUT WHAT IF-" Suddenly the bell rang halfway my sentence. Returning to her calm voice the teacher told the class to pack up.
"I will explain more about this tomorrow. If you have any questions please remember them until the morning."
I know that there's no point in trying to get anything out of her. It looks like I'll have to figure this out on my own.
