Very short a/nThe name of the defense against the dark arts professor is the word for love in Romanian because I couldn't think of a name. It's pronounced like /drah-go-stay/ with stress on the first syllable in case you get confused.
Just kidding the a/n is actually a little longer than I thought.
This chapter is wayyy longer than the other ones have been so like get comfortable, grab some popcorn, and prepare yourselves for the beginning of feels overload. <3 I love a good romance oh gee.
Chapter 4
Rose's POV
All throughout breakfast we make eye contact. Only Ash seems to notice.
"Snap out of it!" she says, "You can only stare at him for so long until your eyes dry out."
"But look at him, he's so cute!" I say.
"You disgust me," she says, only half-sarcastically.
"Don't act like you don't do the same with James!" I say defensively.
"I do think he's cute," she says, glancing at him across the table, "but I don't make googly eyes at him while I have food. If there's anything I like more than him, then it's my food."
James cuts in, "You're the cute one."
"Oh, shut up," she says blushing.
"You guys are lucky. You get to be so open about your relationship while I have to hide it from my parents."
"I know Rose. You had to go and fall for the guy that's supposed to be your enemy, didn't you."
"I guess," I say, sighing.
They go back to eating their food and I go back to beaming at him. I wonder if we'll have any classes together. I still remember the first time we met. It was in a class first year.
I walk into Defense Against the Dark Arts, I have that first. I'm excited and nervous to learn my first defensive spells. My father says I'll enjoy this class, 'and every other class if you're anything like your mother.' He told me that once when they were in school, she got permission from Mcgonagall to use a time turner to go to more than one class at once. She loves to learn. I sit down in an empty seat and then I see my cousin, James, walk in.
"Hey, James! Over here!" I shout.
"Hey Rose! I'm so excited for this class! My dad says it was his favorite," he tells me.
More people file in and then Professor Dragoste starts talking, "First we'll take role, and then I'll go over class expectations."
He began calling out names. I didn't pay attention until I heard a name I recognized.
"Scorpius Malfoy?"
A tall boy with bleach blond hair stands up and says, "Present."
I stare at him, trying to think of where I'd heard that name before.
"Rose Weasley?"
"Here," I say standing up then sitting back down.
That's it! He's Draco Malfoy's son! My parents were in the same year as him, they were sworn enemies. His father joined Voldemort's Army and his grandpa was a Death Eater. They're bad news. Scorpius didn't seem to be as evil as them. Maybe I'll give him a chance.
I hope we do have classes together, we always partner up for things. Breakfast is over and we all get up to go back to the common rooms to get our schedules. On the way out the door, Scorpius' hand brushes up against mine. I get that tingly feeling that I've been waiting to get for all of holiday. We don't look at each other or talk, but I know he got the tingly feeling too. I've missed him so much.
