Chapter 2
Rose's POV
I wake up to see we've already arrived in Hogsmeade. I get up with Ash and James and we walk out of the train. Albus, Grace, Lily, and Hugo find Hagrid and smile at him.
"Have fun, Hugo," I say.
He turns and looks at me smiling, "I will, Rosie!"
I watch them all climb onto the boats along with other curious first years.
We all get onto the strange carts that pull themselves and a couple other Gryffindors get on with us. Now that I have a higher viewing point I look back, peeling the crowd for any sign of Scorpius or his Slytherin crew. My eyes light up when I see some Slytherin students from my year but Scorpius isn't with them.
"Are you alright, Rose?" asks Ashlynn looking at me.
"Fine," I lie, "I was just looking for Scorpius."
"He'll be here, don't worry," she assures me.
I slump down in my seat, "Yeah, whatever."
The long ride to Hogwarts was quiet. We were all too excited and anxious that we finally get to be back. Not being at Hogwarts is hard because it means I can't see Scor for three whole months. We can't even send owls because then our parents would find out. We finally arrive at Hogwarts and we walk in, dragging our trolleys and owl cages through the huge double doors. After dropping our things off in the hallway, where they'll be taken to our house and dorms, everybody goes to the Great Hall for the opening feast. I sit in my normal seat with the other fifth year Gryffindors. I wave at and hug some of the other girls. We catch up through some boring small talk. More and more people flood into the Great Hall and sit in their place. There is still no sign of Scorpius. I begin to worry, what if he doesn't show up? Professor Mcgonagall clears her throat and somehow gains the attention of everyone so easily.
She begins her usual speech, "Welcome students, some new, some familiar, to a brand new year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As usual, we will begin with the sorting of the first years into each house."
Hagrid brings the stool and the ancient sorting hat to the front of the room. Professor Mcgonagall calls the name of the first student. I don't pay much attention to them until they call a name I recognize.
"Grace Lovegood."
She stumbles up with a terrified expression on her face. Grace is slightly clumsy and very shy around people she doesn't know.
Mcgonagall places the hat on her head gently and takes a step back. Ashlynn watches with her fingers crossed that her sister will be in Gryffindor.
"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat exclaims.
Relief is visible on all of our faces, including Graces, as she strolls over to our table. Some of the kids shake her hand and clap for her. She rushes over to Ashlynn and gives her the biggest hug, then sits down.
More names I don't know are called, then they get to my cousin.
"Lily Potter," says Mcgonagall.
Lily walks up confidently, she knows which house she'll be put in. As soon as the hat touches her head it yells out, "GRYFFINDOR!"
Everybody claps like they do for all of the first years. Finally, they get to my brother.
"Hugo Weasley."
He walks up slowly and trips on his way up the three steps to the stool. He sits slowly as well, trying not to make a fool of himself.
The hat quickly calls out, " GRYFFINDOR!" like it did for Lily and Grace. I let out a breath that I didn't know I'd been holding in. I guess I had been nervous for my idiot brother after all. Hugo was the last of the first years that got put into Gryffindor.
