I wake up with my novel still in my hand. I blinks eyes a few times trying to adjust to the light.
"What time is it?" I grumble in my usual sleepy voice.
"Hello to you too bookworm!" I tilt my head on the pillow to find Grace sitting cross-legged on her bed laughing at me. "It's 5:30pm, you were asleep for a while!"
I slowly sit up, rubbing my eyes to try wake myself up even the slightest bit more. I ruffle my hands through my mess of hair to maybe try get it just a slight bit decent.
I grab my phone off the bedside table.
*1 New Message*
I swipe my finger across the screen to open up the message. It was from my mother.
-Hey Lucy! How was your first day? Was it as exciting as you thought it would be? I hope you're having fun over there, but not too much :P miss you, Mum xx-
Mum and I had quite a strong relationship, Dad had left her when I was only 1 year old, leaving her to look after and raise me and my sisters all on her own. We told each other everything. Too be honest, this is the furthest, and longest, that I've ever been away from her since that day! It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I last saw her!
-Mum! It was really good, the teachers are lovely, the classes are great and everything's just as I imagined! I'll have to skype you sometime soon and show you! Lucy :] x-
I send to message and sit my phone back down. I turn to Grace who's browsing through 'god knows what' I on her laptop.
"Hey Grace, wanna order a pizza and watch a movie or something?"
She peers up from her laptop and has a massive smile plastered on her face.
"Only if I can choose which movie!" An evil grin appears.
"Deal."
We ring up and order the pizza, we both decided on just going plain pineapple. Grace chose a movie from the pile stashed right beside the tv.
Mean girls. Of course, I should've guessed this before she even moved off the bed. We settled down on my bed and started watching the movie. At some points we even joined in the dialogue with them.
After a few minutes there was a knock on the door.
"You're getting up this time, I put the movie on!" Grace said trying to sound as firm as she possibly could without laughing.
"Fiinee." I jump up off the bed and make my way to the door. I open the door and grab the pizza off the delivery man, I hand him his money and even have him a tip. I was in a good mood! I made my way back over to the bed stepping over The mess Grace had made with the movies, trying not to trip over or drop the pizza. After a whole we get settled back down and continue on with the movie.
---
"Omg it's 8:45 already!! I only have 15 minutes to get to class!" I jump to my feet as fast as possible startling Grace that had fallen asleep right beside me.
"What? Calm down." She says and presses her eyes shut only to open them again a few seconds later.
I race around the room trying to find all my stuff for class.
"Omg Grace, help me, i'm gunna be late for class! Where are my shoes? Have you seen them? And I can't find my English book! Ahh!" I sigh in frustration and bring my hands up to my head and place one each side.
"Calm down, calm down, The English building is only like a two minute walk from here silly. Your shoes are under your bed where you took them off last night and your English book is on your desk over there!" She says, laughing at my frustration. "Buutt," she continues. "Do something about that hair quickly before you go." This time laughing at the mess that is my hair.
I walk over to the mirror. I brush my hair down and bring it all to one side. I just go for a simple plait. I walk back over the other side of my room to grab my shoes. I sit on the bed and slip those on. On my way out the door I pick up my English book fro the desk and say a quick goodbye to Grace before shutting the door behind me.
I have never, not once been late for a class before, and I was not willing for this to be my first. Considering it was my second day here.
I run down the stairs and start speed-walking through crowds of people. I mumble a few 'hello's' along the way.
I walk through the English room doors and sit down in the same seat I was in yesterday. I lift up my wrist to look at my watch. Thank god, it's only 8:57am. I decide to open my text book and scan through the pages while waiting for Mr Davies. That was until something scared me.
"Hey." A man-like voice is heard from behind me.
"Is this seat taken?" I turn my head and look up to find the same curly haired boy that I had run into yesterday, on my way home, looking into my eyes.
"Oh, uh, um, no, no it's not." i stutter. Why did I stutter? I've never stuttered in my life.
"So you wouldn't mind if i sat here then?" He says with a smile widening on his face, revealing his dimples.
"Oh, no, go ahead!" i scramble the words out quickly. I turn my head back to my book so I can hide the blush that's attempting to crawl upon my cheeks.
He sits down on the seat next to me and chucks his books on the desk. He turns his head and just smiles. His smile makes me feel butterflies on the inside, it's perfectly in place. The dimples on his cheeks are possibly the most breath taking features i've ever seen, They make his face light up even brighter normal. I didn't notice yesterday but his face is perfect. Like honestly model-worthy. Those gleaming green eyes. I return the smile and turn back to my text book again. At that moment the door opens and in walks Mr Davies.
"Alright class, if you could all just take a seat and we shall begin. I want you all to open your books to page 7." He says while placing his books and folder into his desk.
"I uh, didn't bring my textbook.. Would you mind if i just looked off of yours?" Harry asks me quietly, with a polite smile.
"Yeah sure." I return the smile again.
He scooted his chair over closer to mine to see the textbook better. Now leaving only about 3 inches between us. I could feel his warm breath on my hand as he leant over to study the textbook. This sent shivers down my spine. I look up to find Mr Davies staring in my direction. As soon as I had looked up he shifted his head towards the opposite direction now facing the door. I tilt my head back down back to the book to continue reading. We sat there just reading for the next hour or so.
"Alright everyone, books shut." Mr Davies ends the lesson by closing his book shut quite loudly. "Don't forget you're 2 page report is due Thursday, I don't have you tomorrow so i will see everyone Thursday." He yells over the murmurs of the class.
Everyone stands up out of their seats and starts heading towards the door. I come to a sudden stop when I feel a gentle pat on my shoulder.
"Thankyou." Was all he said as he continued to walk away smiling his cheeky grin. I couldn't help but stand there and stare. It was something about his smile.
"Lucy." Me Davies calls out.
"Yes Mr Davies?"
"You did well today, I noticed that you kept focus quite well. Keep it up!" He smiles a genuine smile and starts to pack up his things.
"Thankyou sir, I'm trying a lot, I want to do well!" I reply with a worried sort of pleading smile on my face while turning to head out the door.
"You'll do just fine." I hear him say as I walk out the door.
I start to make the journey again back to the dorm rooms.
