The nurse paced around the room, constantly biting on her finger nails and looking over at Marinette. The girl slept through the whole thing, only moving to snuggle into the blanket or turn around to the other side of the bed.
BAM!
The nurse yelped and backed away from the door. The vines were relentless. They pressed themselves against the door and glass, trying to break through. The nurse's back hit the wall near the right corner of the room. She slid down the wall till she met the floor and curled up into a ball. Marinette just kept sleeping, unaware of what was happening at the moment.
That girl could sleep through a bomb explosion!
The vines banged against the door harder, making the barricades clatter. The nurse put her head down, whispering a prayer. She tried her best not to cry.
"Someone, please, help us."
Her prayer was answered with annoyed groan. Marinette covered her eyes with her hands.
"It burns,"She muttered. Hesitantly, she moved her hands away and blinked furiously. Once her eyes adjusted, she sat up and looked around.
"Where am I?"
"Y-you're awake?"
Marinette looked over to see the nurse gaping at her. She blushed and waved shyly.
"Hi! Uh, I hope you don't mind me asking, but what am I-"
Her quetion was left unanswered when the vines baged against the door. She threw away the blanket and stood up.
"What was that?!"
The nurse stood up, leg shaking.
"Vines. They've been trying to get in here ever since Adrien left."
At the sound of Adrien's name, Marinette spun around and looked at the nurse.
"A-Adrien was here?! What happened?! Was he hurt?!"
The nurse shook her head. Marinette let out a sigh in relief. What the nurse said next, literally made her heart stop.
"He brought you in here when you fell asleep in class, and he came to check on you during lunch. He also cut the vine that was trying to attack you,"the nurse informed her, pointing to the dead vine lying on the floor. Marinette gagged at the sight. She then blushed at the thought Adrien had protected her from it. Her eyes widened at a realization. She turned back to the nurse.
"Wait, you said he left? Out there? With the vines?"
The nurse nodded. Marinette stopped breathing and ran to the door. She grabbed the desk and began to pull it away from the door. The nurse gasped and ran to Marinette.
"Stop! If you do that, the vines will attack you. Adrien gave me orders not to let you out!" The nurse exclaimed as she pushed the desk back and yanked Marinette away from the door. Marinette glared at her.
"Since when do you take orders from a child?"
"Since I saw what he can do with a fire extinguisher, and because I know he'll have me fired if you get hurt!"
"Adrien wouldn't do that!"
"The look he gave me when he told me to knock you out if you tried to escape says otherwise!"
Marinette gaped at her.
Adrien really said that to her?
She grinded her teeth and looked at the nurse.
"If he tries to do that, I'll tell him I was the one at fault."
The nurse blinked at Marinette.
"What are you-"
Marinette pushed the nurse down onto the ground and ran to the fire extinguisher. She grapped and swung it over her shoulder. She walked over to the nurse who was rubbing her head from the collision with the floor. Marinette grasped the fire extinguisher tightly before swinging it, making it collide with the nurse's head. She fell to the floor instantly.
"Sorry, but Adrien is too important to me. I can't just sit here while I know he's in danger."
She put the fire extinguisher down and opened her purse. Tikki glared at her from the inside.
"Marinette, did you have to knock her out?"
"Adrien is in trouble, and she wouldn't let me out. What choice did I have?"
Tikki was silent, knowing it was the only option other than revealing herself as Ladybug.
"Exactly."
Marinette picked up the fire extinguisher and walked to the door.
"You're not going to transform?" Tikki asked.
Marinette shook her head. She grabbed the desk and pulled it away from the door. Only the cabinet remained in front of the door. The vines pounded against the door even harder. Marinette grabbed the fire extinguisher and prepared to fire.
"If I'm correct, the lack of light means the school is surrounded in some sort of shield. If I were to transform, people(Alya) would figure out that I go to this school. It would be easier for them to narrow down who Ladybug is, since I practically look the same way I do now. I'd give them a month before they figured it out. Now, hide."
"Why?"
"The door looks like it's about to break and that cabinet is practically weightless. The chemicals in the fire extinguisher will kill the vines, making it easy for me to pass, but I need you to hide just in case."
Tikki nodded and flew back into Marinette's purse. With the satisfying click of it closing, Marinette readied the extinguisher. The vines slammed against the door, the cabinet fell to the floor. Marinette narrowed her eyes.
3
The vines made the hinges on the door lose, cracks formed in the windows.
2
The wood of the door nearly broke in half, letting the vines little by little, wiggle into the room. Marinette didn't fire.
1
Marinette closed her eyes and fired.
