Chapter 7 | Meeting His Brothers

Jae Yoon's POV

Flying across the room to wake Nam Yoon up, I was surprised to see her wide awake with a smile painted across her face.

"Wow, you woke up early. Is this day supposed to be special?"

I am really confused. She rarely wakes up on her own. I usually see her comfortably sleeping on her bed.

"Yup! Don't you remember?! Xiumin said that we'd meet his brothers today! And he'll help us fit in with humans!"

My eyes widen.

"Omo! Today is that day?!"

I totally forgot about what Xiumin said to us the last time we saw him.

"Yes!" - She giggled and then stood up, immediately taking a bath.

She's really excited, huh? I smiled at her happy expression. She's usually calm and smiles brightly, but today is special. She's excited.

While waiting for Xiumin, Nam Yoon and I checked and spoke with everyone, telling them that we'll be out for a bit and told them about us meeting humans. *chuckles* They gave us a lot of reminders and said to always be careful.

Everyone in this forest are really caring and lovely people.

"Guys!!"

We saw Xiumin running towards us with a smile painted across his face.

"Oh? Xiumin!" - Nam Yoon cheerfully exclaimed as she ran towards him and linked her arms with his.

Poor Xiumin, he blushed when Nam Yoon linked their arms together and smiled at him sweetly.

I only face-palmed as Nam Yoon only asked if he had a fever and touched his forehead, to which he blushed even more, if that's even possible. She's sometimes very dense.

"Unnie!!" - She called me as she noticed I wasn't following.

I flew towards them and sat on her shoulders.

"Let's go!" - I exclaimed as I raised my fist in the air.

Xiumin guided us at the edge of the forest, and I sensed Nam Yoon's uneasiness, as well as mine.

Nam Yoon's POV

I'm scared. I don't know what's there beyond this barrier. Will we be safe?  If... If I am needed to use my powers, I will do so to protect the people I love. - As I thought of that, I looked at Xiumin and Jae Yoon unnie.

Will we be alright though? - I thought and raised my arm to touch the barrier.

My forefinger felt the barrier and it seemed as though it's comforting me. I closed my eyes to feel more of its comfort.

'You'll be alright. If things goes wrong, the barrier is always here to separate you from danger. You'll only have to enter.' - I snapped my eyes open and stared at the barrier, confusion written on my face. How... It... It... Spoke... to... me... The barrier... Spoke. To. Me.

"Is everything okay, Nam Yoon?"

I looked at Xiumin and saw his concerned expression, which I returned with a soft smile.

"I'm fine. Just a bit nervous." - I exhaled a final deep breath while closing my eyes and then opened them with determined expression.

I held my hands against my chest and dared to take a step outside this barrier. Hearing Jae Yoon unnie sigh, I knew right away that she too was really nervous and anticipates my next moves.

In the blink of an eye, Xiumin was already outside, so I forced my legs to carry myself towards him and held his left arm with my eyes closed.

"W-We're... O-Outside..." - I heard Jae Yoon unnie mumble, to which I opened my eyes for.

Umma, Appa, we finally took the risk to step out of the barrier. Will... Will we be okay? - I thought as I followed Xiumin along, still holding onto his arm.

By the time we reached the place called 'The Town's Street', I constantly try to avoid people's prying eyes. I hide behind Xiumin who's very much familiar with other humans. He look rather... red though.

"Uwaaahh! Mommy, look! A fairy doll! I want one too!" - I heard a little girl squeal, making me flinch in surprise.

The mother of the child started to approach us with a smile.

"Hi, miss. Can I ask you where you bought that?" - She said, pointing at Jae Yoon unnie. I know for a fact that unnie is trying her very best to be still and act like a real doll.

When my attention came back to the mother, I soon realized that she was about to touch me. So my next move came as an instinct, I hid behind Xiumin and took a grip on his shirt and left hand.

"Oh, sorry. She's really shy. And the doll was given to her when she was just a baby by her parents, so we don't actually know where this came from." - Xiumin said with an apologetic expression.

"Oh, is that so. Then we're so sorry to bother your date." - They then left us, to which I sighed in relief.

"Xiumin, what does she mean by 'date'?" - I curiously asked as I faced him.

His face turned red. I touched his red cheeks, which turned even more redder.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. And about the date thing. Don't worry about it. You'll understand soon." - He said and started walking again.

I just shrugged it and followed him again. This time, Jae Yoon unnie decided to turn invisible for the human eyes.

We finally came face to face with another forest. It looks really beautiful, although I can't seem to get this place out of my mind. I seem to have been here before.

As we enter, I took in every detail in this place. I really do believe that I've been here. Is this the place where we saved a baby bear? A bird perhaps? No, no. That's not it. When was I here?

In the middle of trying to recall ever being in this place, my train of thoughts suddenly came to a halt as I saw what looks like a mansion not too far from where we are currently at.

"You're finally meeting my brothers!" - He exclaimed while smiling widely at me, which I returned with my own wide smile.

"I'm excited!" - Suddenly hugging him, he looked taken back, but I ignored him and kept on hugging his figure.

"...But I'm nervous as well." - I said, shaking a little. To which I only heard him chuckle.

"Don't worry, they're all nice." - Reassuringly smiling at me, we then proceeded to head towards the door to their house.
