THE SILENCE WAS DEAFANING. Thea could suddenly feel her heart in her stomach and the ringing in her ears. The only noise that could be heard was the booming flow of the river's current. A dropped pin could probably be heard if that river had suddenly disappeared into thin air. Just moments ago, the four teenagers had run away, leaving behind their lanky friend with a spear in his chest. Thea slowly stood, glancing at the frozen, wide-eyed Jasper, who she thought had taken his last breath, and back at Writ, who had a devilish smile painted on her face. Thea always seemed not to show her true feelings through her face, always being seen with her every day, bitch-face plastered on, but right at this moment, her mind was going deranged thinking of what to do and how to get out of this situation with the least amount of casualties. She wanted to send those sky people back where they came from. As much as she wanted to fight for her land and her people, she found it immoral to kill them when they showed no signs of malice or any sort of threatening nature. Once they do, though, all bets will be off as long as she's given permission. Despite not knowing the nature of their business with Mount Weather, she believed this group of people to not be truly evil. At least not as evil as their ancestors who abandoned the Earth.
"This isn't how we deal with things. Are you insane? Why did you resort to this?"
Thea has seen bloody massacres worse than this, and yes, she heavily took part in the massacres, but those other people were backstabbing cockroaches and were threatening her and the very few people she cared about. She wasn't too sure that Jasper genuinely deserved to die. He seemed like a carefree, buoyant teenager, and now here she stands, watching the dark maroon blood seep through his dirty, faded shirt with his eyes piercing through her soul. He seemed dead but without getting close enough to check his vitals, Thea would just have to assume.
"Three reasons. They passed the boundary. They're outsiders. They deserve to die." was the response. The dark-haired girl let out a breathy sigh, disappointed in herself. If she had not followed Writ, maybe she wouldn't wouldn't have killed what seemed like an innocent guy.
"Okay... well," Thea dusted her knees and said a little prayer, not wanting to be a part of Writ's clean-up party because she sure as hell didn't RSVP for the Murder party of 3. "I'll be on my way. This was truly a lovely show... really, it truly was, but I must return home to help Indra with some duties. Goodbye." She turned around, hoping the blonde would just leave her be.
"Oh no no." Writ forcefully grabbed Thea by the shoulder and as a result, Thea rolled her eyes and pushed her hand away, "You have to help me with this, please? I just need help with the body and you're the best at this." Before Thea could muster an excuse, Jasper moved around, letting out a low, disgruntled moan before returning to the position Writ's spear forced him to stay in. Both girls' heads snapped toward his direction. Although brunette was genuinely happy that he was alive, she couldn't help but think of the impending war the impetuous blonde started.
"Ha em nou stedaun? (How is he not dead?)" Writ protested, grabbing Thea's forearm. The 20-year-old sighed in exasperation and pushed Writ's hand off her skin yet again. She truly hated people touching her without her permission. It was her own little boundary.
"Thea, please." The younger girl implored, "Look, he isn't dead so that means we don't have to get rid of the whole 90 pounds of him," She sarcastically rolled her eyes and chuckled at her own joke.
"Writ, don't you understand?" Thea whips her head around to face the younger girl, her dark hair smacking her in the face, but she can't give a damn at the moment. She was too busy focusing on trying to talk some sense into the reckless blonde. "Do I have to explain to you that he's dying and if we send him back to his people like this, they will retaliate? Or have you ever thought about the fact that they could be coming back for his body right now? What if they work with the Maunon (Mountain Men)? Have you had even ONE coherent thought during the last five minutes? Also, now they know we're here, thanks for sending that message, by the way." The shorter girl sighs in disbelief. "What was the point in this anyway?"
