"Come on, let's just tell him that we couldn't find that teacher. I'm not gonna walk around anymore", I tell Jasmeet. "Can you ever stop complaining, Samaira? God!", says Jasmeet as we reach Mr.Pankaj's cabin. He has asked us to give a message regarding some Maths test to a teacher and we have already searched the whole school for her. "Seems like he's not here", she says. "I told you he'd be gone before we even get back! Now forget it and let's go to the class. God, I'm so tired."
She agrees and we are moving towards the class when I see Harshit, a junior Jasmeet's been crushing on since we were in the 8th grade. "Oh God, Samaira he's here", she says. "Oh come on, Jazz", I say, rolling my eyes. We have already had enough of this. This girl changes her crushes every week. One day she's into him and the next, there's a new guy."What is up with you? What happened to Mr.X? Just yesterday you were gushing about the video you recorded of him at your tuition and now, this guy again? Ah.", I say, pushing through our class' door. Thank God Ms.Ritu hasn't reached for her History class yet. I just love when teachers are late, we get to chat with our friends for a little longer. I cross to our desk, where behind us sit Tahira and Naina, my other two best friends. "You guys won't believe what Jasmeet's started doing again.", and I tell them about what we just witnessed outside the class. "How many times have I told you guys to not listen to this Jasmeet's stupid guy problems. She has a new one everyday!", says Tahira, who's not really fond of Jasmeet. Jasmeet could only manage a "But, I.." before Tahira cuts her with " Oh shut up". Naina and I can't help but have a little laugh over Jasmeet's situation here, especially her trademark poor puppy face she usually makes. We're writing in our registers as Ms.Ritu dictates when I'm suddenly disturbed by Jasmeet sitting next to me. "I really wish I could have H's phone number." H is what Jasmeet fondly calls that junior. "Yeah sure, I'll get it for you someday.", I say. "Yeah, as if you will.", she says unbelievingly. I'm really bored as I tend to get during boring history classes, so I resort to talking with Jasmeet while pretending to write. The discussion is about Jasmeet's crushes and as it gets intense, we' re joined by Tahira and Naina. "Seriously, Jazz, you gotta stop now. It was H once, then X today and God knows who's next", I say. X was another guy she liked and since we didn't know his name, we christened him Mr.X. "As if you don't do this kind of stuff, Samaira", she retorts. "Sam never does this kinda stuff, it's always you okay", says Tahira. "Yeah Jazz, we're honestly bored of your guys now", says Naina. "Oh come on, as if you guys don't know about that guy she's started to like", says Jasmeet, taking me by surprise. I stop writing and look at her, uncomprehendingly. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"That guy whose hair you really liked, Ohho Sam", Jasmeet says, copying my way of teasing her. Suddenly the events of the past few days flash before my eyes. The tall guy. His brown hair. That sweet smile. "Are you insane?! I don't even know that guy!", I say to a creepily smiling Jasmeet. "Since we don't really know his name, let's just call him Mr.Y, since X is already taken.", Jasmeet utters, still smiling. So Mr.Y, huh?
