Angie's POV

They began attaching cords to my face and arms to track my pulse for the polygraph.

I was nervous, especially with King German sat opposite smiling at me. Oh God, he would see every lie I told.

"Okay Angeles," said the man before me, in his taciturn manner, "Just gonna start off simple and work our way up. I'll ask you a question, you answer yes or no. You lie, we will know. As will the entire country later. I've got a list of questions, it's quite long, so let's get started."

I nodded, feeling my head become damp with sweat from my worries.

"Okay, is you're name Angeles Carrara?"

I sighed, oh easy.

"Yes" I replied calmly.

"We're you born in Greenleaf?"

"Yes." I reiterated.

King German continued to smile at me and I began to relax.

"You attended school until 18?"

"Yep!" I said, popping the 'p'.

King German smiled wider.

"You are a nurse and carer." He stated.

I nodded as I said "Yes, I am."

The polygrapher nodded, "Okay now onto the next questions."

"Do you want to be here?"

"Yes." I replied absent-mindedly.

King German frowned.

"Did that come up as a lie?" I asked.

The polygrapher raised his eyebrow, "Did you lie?"

I sighed, "I don't know. I mean I originally didn't want to be here. But now I like it here. I don't think I lied. I like it here."

The polygrapher nodded, "Let's keep going then."

"Do you have a family?"

"No." I replied glancing up at the ceiling.

"Any living relatives?"

"No." I shook my head again.

"Have you ever been married?"

I smirked, "Nope."

"Ever had a child or been pregnant?"

"No." I responded, still looking at the ceiling in my haze.

"Okay have you ever committed a crime?"

I exist.

"No." I replied instead shaking my head.

"Ever known of a crime being committed?"

Yes.

"No." I said instead.

German was watching the screen. I was sure these were all coming up as lies.

"Let's say you had seen a crime committed, would you report it?"

"Yes."

German's frown deepened.

"Okay Angeles, we're going to take a new approach. Soooo- have you ever been in love?"

I sighed, maybe? "Yes."

"Have you ever been proposed to?"

Pablo. "Yes"
