The snow fell hard just as the weathermen had predicted and I stood waiting for him to come home. It was mid November and work had taken him away from me since the week after my birthday in September.
Too long without the person who made my heart beat and my breath hitch in my chest.
He was coming home and of course the weather had had to change from the mild and somewhat unusual weather we had been having to this, a snowstorm that had left me in fear. Our second Christmas was coming upon us fast and the only thing I wanted was to see the lights of the Audi he drove a little too fast even for my liking to shine through the window I was standing looking out of. I wanted to see Lucas, to feel his hot breath against my neck as he held me close and to hear his dulcet tones as he told me how he had missed me. The glass of Jack Daniels I had poured not that long ago it seemed had grown warm as I'd held it too tightly and the ice had melted away, everything was focussed on one thing, the other half of me wasn't here.
The stereo was playing old blues, BB King was telling me how he missed his baby and damn it, I missed mine.
Come on baby, come home to me... but for Gods' sake don't drive at the speed you normally do. I'd like you in once piece as it's been two months without you here.
Like the answer to my prayer... the room was filled with light as the midnight blue car that I'd practically begged him to buy pulled up in front of the house. I ran throwing open the door to see Lucas standing there, the smile that I adored lighting up his face.
“Gorgeous girl....God I've missed you.”
With that, I was in his arms.
“My darling, I don't have the words to tell you how much I've missed you. It's been like my heart was missing something that made it feel like it could beat properly. Please don't leave me for so long again.”
As I went to pull him inside I fell into the snow, the black outfit I'd taken so long to choose now covered in white as I lay there pouting up at the man with that oh so irritating smirk on his face. A smirk that within a short second I knew I could wipe off.... I pulled on the hand that was still holding my own and giggled as he fell down on top of me, his reflexes stopping me from being crushed under him – something which I was perfectly honest I wouldn't have minded too much.
“If you wanted to play in the snow.... you should have said.”
Lucas with a face filled with amusement poured snow all around my face before capturing my lips in a kiss that could have melted the snow I was lying on in it's intensity. Jesus I may have missed him for all these weeks but the kisses I was being given were starting to help make up for the many lonely nights I'd spent in our bed. Revenge for the vulnerable state he was making me feel was building up in me as I rolled us over, the soft white snow flakes falling around us as I moved just enough to see Lucas bite his lip and his eyes darken just a little.
I smiled as I leant down to kiss him once more, there were times that I really loved that I could play his body like a fine tuned instrument. This was one of them.
“Sweetheart, I always want to play...”
The groan left his lips and his arms circled my body as he brought me closer to him.
“You do realise anyone who walks past will see up lying like this don't you? We're lying here like teenagers... and it's bloody cold.”
“Baby boy, I don't care... 8 weeks without you and now you're here I can touch you, feel your heart beating and look into your eyes and know it's not a dream. I could stay here all night, the cold I'd get would be worth it. Now were was I?”
