Chapter 1

ERZA'S POV

Today started off like any other day for me Erza Scarlet.

"Chief you called?" My friend Lucy yelled running up to me after she shut the door to her pink car.

Thats right i am the chief of police of the Magnolia royal police forces, needless to say i derserve the position.

Lucy Heartfilia was also a police like me but she wasnt as high ranked compared to me but she was still higher then your average police, she was a part of my unit which consisted of me Lucy, Gray Fullbuster, Juvia Locksar, Levy Macgarden, Gajeel Redfox and Natsu Dragneel. We were all strong at our jobs so often we were sent to catch the most wanted criminals in Fiore.

"Yes what is the new update?" We were walking towards the police station from the parking lot where we had parked our cars. Lucy was also in charge of giving me my daily updates.

"Natsu and Gray caught a thief yesterday stealing jewellary and they have been guarding him 24/7 eversince, by the looks of it he is important." Lucy explained while i was fixing my badge that hung over my heart.

"Is he important enough that i have to go check on?" I questioned while looking at a pile of sheets that related to the observations we made on another criminal last week.

"You probably should chief" Lucy never calls me by my name in public since it wouldnt be a sign of respect to you superiors.

"Okay once im done checking this paperwork tell Natsu or Gray that i'll be right there." Lucy speed walked over to the prison cells underneath the police station which was where the most dangerous prisoners are kept. Normally we would send the prisoners to court or the public prison but the most dangerous ones are kept underneath the police station.

I knew for quite a while that my blond friend liked Natsu Dragneel and to be honest i think he returns the feelings but both are too scared to confess.

I opened the doors and started to head to my office which was the biggest room on the second floor.

"Ugh! Being the chief of police is so difficult." I threw all my papers off my desk onto the floor,they flew through the air landing on the floor in seconds.

Maybe I should check on the new prisoner it might cheer up my mood. I thought with a sigh.
I grabbed my dagger in case any threatening would be needed than I fixed my uniform so that i radiated a very formal and powerful energy to my enemies.

All ready to go i murmered to myself in my full body length mirror.

The clicking of my heels echoed through the halls of the second floor, i was the only one upstairs. Underneath me there was bustling and chitter chatter from the other police officers.

"Morning everyone im going to check on the new prisoner if anyone needs me you know where to find me." I waved to everyone halfway down the stairs before proceeding to tell them the instructions.

"Be safe" Juvia said but i was already too far away to reply.

Step by step the stairs to the prison ended up leading me here. The prison wasnt fancy, it had gray concrete walls and there were no windows. Because this was a prison we didnt build it to look pretty it had to be safe and this was the best place. There were a few dim lights so if anyone didnt know better they would think we were in a medieval castle except on the outside of the doors there was a pin with a very highly protected code. It was the only way to open the doors.

The best thing i like about this prison is that in order to get out you have to first get past the police station full of officers making escape basically impossible.

"Who goes there?" I heard Natsu say hand on his gun which was tucked safely in his pocket.

"Its just me Erza Scarlet." I put my hands in the air just so i wouldnt get shot.

"Oh its just you chief" Natsu gave a sigh of relief before placing his hand back down.

"I suppose your checking on the prisoner right?" Gray asked leaning againest the frame of the prison cell.

"Yes i am." I nod formally at him.

"Lucy told us you were going to visit soon but i didnt think it would be this soon." Natsu explained, both had bags under their eyes and they both looked like a cow ran over them.

"You have my permission to have the rest of the day off. Go home and have a good rest but i expect you to show up tomorrow."

"Its fine chief." Gray ussured even though he looked exhausted.

"Ice popsicle stop trying to be a good guy you of all people were the one complaining the whole day about wanting to take a nap." Natsu smacked the back of his head while Gray grunted in pain.

"Ghee thanks for ruining my act Flame Brain" Gray mumbled but Natsu noticed.

"I heard that you know but i'm choosing to not say anything since Chief is here" Natsu gestured at me and Gray just glared at him.

"Anyway as i was saying both of you should still go home and take a nap." I repeated.

"Okay thanks Chief." Gray sprinted out the door and disappeared. Natsu was right Gray really was in a rush to leave.

"See you tomorrow Chief" Natsu bro hugged me before he walked out leaving me alone in the prison.

The prisoner is awfully quiet i wonder if he is dead or alive?

I pressed the 4 digit pin resulting in the metal door sliding open.

The prison was dark and i could just barely make out the shape of a man sitting in the corner.

"Hello you can come out i wont hurt you" I whispered but my mind was thinking of ways to protect myself if the prisoner was to attack me or try to escape.

"I bet you say that to everyone but do you end up hurting them?" A cool voice replied which really made me wonder about what the man said. By listening to his voice i observed that the man was probably in his 20's.

"Not unless i have to but my job is mostly keeping people safe." I was a bit on edge that straight forward he asked me such a question like i am a police officer not a criminal unlike him.

"...."

No reply. I am determined to learn about this mysterious new prisoner.
