The announcer stood within a field full of sand and grass. I guess this is where we will be fighting. As he spoke the dome above us opened up illuminating the crowed. We couldn't be any happier, the 3 of us have been waiting for this moment for years.
Especially Faye, she has always wanted to be like her father who was murdered years ago by assassins. He was a Kings Royal Guard, only people with an insanely high Haloi level are even considered.
We watched as the crowed grew quite and the announcer continued his script.
"We regret to inform you that the rules have been changed this year" he paused for a moment to let it sink in " Today's Haloi even will be unlike the past where the top 10 battlers will be accepted into the capital. Today you will" he stopped and looked around the field in confusion "Today......Today you will have to battle a KRG and successfully Cause a flesh wound to be accepted"
The crowed erupted in out rage. Boo's field the stadium
"We have to battle a Kings Royal Guard and draw blood, that's suicide!" Paris yelled out "What kind of change of rules is this!"
Faye hit him in the back of the head ending his rant, before he attracted any unwanted attention.
"But there is also a new rule" he paused waiting for the crowed to quite. "You can choose whether or not you want to participate in the event. If you so not feel as if you are capable of this task do not join."
Most of the crowed left after that statement. Only the well know people at our school filled now hollow gym.
After everything quited down he continued "You can chose to forfeit at any point during the battle. But remember, you my only be accepted into capitals Military school you must create a flesh wound"
He looked around at the empty seats. Only a few groups of people remained, scattered thought the gym.
"I will give you all 10 minutes to come upon a decision, good luck to all of you..... You will need it"
The gym was quite no one really knew what to say.
"This is crazy, we have no chance at this" Paris said braking the silence"
"I'm going to do it" Faye spoke out
"Your crazy" Paris whispered
"I need to become a KRG Paris you know that"
"Why, so you can find out who killed your father" my voice was pale and toneless. I kept my eyes focused on the field below.
I could feel both of them look at me. Especially Faye's here stair was ice cold down my back.
"Can you just forget about him for one damn minute, I'm tires of you bringing him up all the time, he is dead just forget it" my voice became filled with anger.
She ran off out of the bleachers I could hear he crying as the distance grew further and further.
"You know, your a real ass Snow. You crossed the line." Paris was calm about it. He turned and took off after Faye.
I sat in silence afterwards. Alone with nothing but my thoughts. And memories. Haunting memories.
She doesn't know, and she could never know. If she ever found out it would kill her mentally and physically. I just hope that if she ever finds out, she can forgive me.
