The long black stretch limo slowly pulled onto the curved brick road leading to the new white mansion, my family is moving into. The
limo driver opened the door to the limo and I came out, short brown combat boots touching the hot brick beneath my feet. I walked up the white marble stairs that lead to the front entrance. Red, pink, and yellow roses lined the stairs. I turned, facing away from the mansion to look at the small water fountain in our brick road. My parents opened the tall white doors and we entered. I was greeted to two more white marble staircases that curved onto the second floor. The high rise ceiling had a huge glass chandelier hanging."Go check out your room Marie. I designed it just for you." said Michelle the maid with a kind smile. She has been like a mother to me. Watching and taking care of me. She knew me better than my own parents, so I just knew my room would be amazing.
I walked up the long marble staircase. There wasn't much noise in the house except for my boots clattering with every step. I wandered the house for a while till I saw a white wooden door with a capital aqua M mounted on the door. I slowly opened the door to be greeted with my new room. The ceilings were high, but not as high as the main foyer. A light with a wooden ceiling fan hung from above. The walls were painted the same aqua color at the M on my door. I had a Queen sized bed with a white and aqua colored duvet cover. There was a walk in closet with all of my clothes neatly organized inside. A book shelf filled with my favorite books was placed next to my desk. I had a white desk, that had multicolored pens and pencils and everything I would need for school. My black and white backpack was hanging from the chair in my room, which was also white. A small note was attached to the desk saying 'Look behind your shoes ~M'. I went into my closet to be greeted by a small blue button. Curiously I pressed it, being turned into a music room, like a hidden bookcase. There was a microphone and a blue acoustic guitar in the corner. Another note was attached that said, 'Parents don't know. I promise. ~M'. My parents never appreciated my love for music. They said it wasn't ideal for a successful career. Whatever. I exited the room and pressed the button, closing off my secret space.
I loved my room. The last thing I noticed was double French doors. They lead to a balcony. I stepped out onto the balcony and viewed the huge garden outside. It had a small river and waterfall flowing through the many plants. A gazebo that had a table and chairs was placed perfectly next to the huge in ground swimming pool. Lawn chairs scattered the perimeter of the pool. On my balcony was 2 weaved white chairs with tan cushions. I stepped back inside to be greeted by my mother.
"Marie darling, I can't possibly understand how you could actually look at this horrendous color!" she said, over dramatically.
"Mother, I happen to find it very pleasant actually." I said matter-of-factly. When it came to my mother I always spoke properly.
"It is just very un attractive. Sorry." she said, rolling her eyes and strutting out of the room.
I flopped onto my bed a sighed deeply. She doesn't understand me. She never will. I loved aqua because it reminded me of the ocean. I loved the ocean because it is the only thing I have left of my brother, Kevin. He died from a shooting at his work. My brother worked at a bank for 2 years when it got robbed. When he refused to give money, he was instantly killed. My parents have been too over protective ever since that happened. My mother loved Kevin more that me, thats why she despises me. She will always yell at me, saying if I wasn't born, they wouldn't need to pay for me and Kevin would never have to work. It makes no sense, I know, but it makes her feel better. Why wouldn't she blame the one who shot him? I have no idea. She probably needed someone to constantly chide about it I guess.
I walked into my closet, changing into a sky blue cropped top that said Okay. on it. I threw on a pair of black pajama bottoms and removed my make up. I took out my contacts and put my long, dark, curly hair into a messy bun. I then put on glasses so I could see through my deep blue eyes. I grabbed The Fault In Our Stars off my book shelf and began to read. Tomorrow would be my first day at my new school, to make new friends, and survive high school once again. Wish me good luck.
