Marie's POV
"Wait, so your friend was buying what?" I said, shocked to hear what I just heard.
Ross just nods, his sobs subsiding, but his eyes were still red and puffy.
I wiped a tear from his eye, as he looked up at me. Outside it started to rain, hard, and it splashed outside the car.
"But Marie, I don't know what to do." Ross said, as he started to cry once more.
After moments of silence, he finally spoke.
"Why do you care anyways." He said, not even making eye contact with me.
"What?" I said, wondering why he would say that.
"I said why do you care. You obviously didn't care about me earlier, why do you care now?" He said finally looking up.
"You're too forward, and honestly you scare me Ross." I said looking down, trying to hide the tears.
He must have thought of something, because his facial expression went from sad to worried.
"Oh my God, what about Mike! I totally forgot!" he said, starting his car.
"Hey if you're driving somewhere, I'm getting out of the car." I said starting to pick my bag off of the ground.
"Wait no-" Ross said, as I closed the door to his car.
Then he drove away, as I stood there in the rain.
I walked back to the school, and was greeted by Matt.
"Hey," he said smiling and walking towards me.
I said hi, and hugged him.
"So I was wondering if you were free tonight? Or tomorrow? Or really any day?" He said, and I noticed his face got red, and he lifted his arm to touch his back.
Laughing, I said, "Yeah I'm free tonight, were you planning on something?"
"Um I was wondering if you wanted to go out tonight?" He said, feeling a little more comfortable.
I thought about it for a few seconds.
"Sure." I said, smiling."Alright cool. I'll pick you up at 8?" He said.
"Sounds good." I agreed.
"Oh hey also what's your address?" he said as I started to walk away.
I gave it to him, and we said our goodbyes.
As I walked out of the parking lot, I remembered I didn't have a ride home.
Shit.
I waited outside a little, until I saw Molly walk out.
"Hey Marie!" she said, greeting me with a hug.
"Hey, were you leaving now?" I said.
"Oh yeah, need a ride?" she asked.
"That would be great thanks." I said.
We walked over to her green Mini Cooper, and both got in.
"So you and Matt," she said, wiggling her eyebrows but still focusing on the road.
I laughed, and replied "There's nothing going on, but he did ask me on a date tonight."
"I know, that's all he talked about at lunch. Where were you by the way?" she said.
I didn't know what to say. I was comforting Ross. Quickly I responded "Oh Ms. Burns had to ask me something, I guess it took up all of lunch."
"Well then you must be hungry. Let's go to Sonic?" she said.
Sonic was my favorite place, so I quickly agreed.
Once we both ordered, we sat in the drive-in, eating our burgers, and drinking our shakes, laughing at random things we talked about.
When we finished, Molly drove me back to my house. I said my goodbyes, and entered my home.
I looked at the clock, and realized it was already 6.
I had to get ready.
