Quinn woke up not knowing where she was. She kept her eyes shut and thoughts flooded her mind. She heard a bunch of voices coming from another room, but couldn't distinguish what they were saying or whom they came from.
She heard a door open and the voices got louder. "Why the fuck did you sleep on the couch?" a deep voice grumbled from outside. "I wanted her to have the bed to herself," Luke's voice came into the room Quinn was in. She heard him sigh and walk back out. "
"Is this the first time you've brought a girl back and not banged her?" another other voice snorted. "Shut up," Luke grumbled. "Ooh, does Lukey like this girl?" the first voice cooed in a joking way.
"Shut the hell up, Ashton," Luke said a little louder and walked back into the room, partially closing the door. "I'm not hearing a no, so I guess it's a yes!" the second voice called and the two voices chuckled. Quinn heard Luke sigh again and she felt the bed move as he sat on the edge of it.
Quinn rolled over and opened her eyes slightly since her face hurt. Luke glanced back and his face seemed to light up at her waking up. "Oh, I didn't realize you were awake. Good morning," he said awkwardly, standing from the bed. He had on a gray sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, but Quinn could tell he had a few ugly bruises on his face.
"Morning," Quinn said softly and yawned into the pillow. She didn't realize how comfortable she was until she started to sit up. She pulled the cover up to her chin and sighed. "I guess I should thank you now for last night and bringing me here."
"No, don't thank me. It was a great excuse to actually bring you here," Luke joked with a lopsided grin. Quinn let out a halfhearted giggle and then frowned. "I don't know how I'm ever going to face him, or even Kristen or Calum. They're probably worried sick about me but, oh well," she shrugged slightly. She looked around Luke's room and was a little disappointed at the result.
Honestly, Quinn expected band posters plastered all around, but instead the walls were mostly blank. He had a few soccer posters and some Sports Illustrated covers up in various spots, which didn't surprise her.
"Well, they should be. They went out and got wasted without even checking up on you during the day. They had to know you were upset, but didn't do anything about it," Luke sat back down on the corner of the bed, stuffing his hands into the pocket of his sweatshirt.
Quinn didn't say anything as she thought about what he said. She remembered the fight last night and grimaced at the thought of it. She reached up and touched her face lightly, wondering where the bruises were. "Don't do that. It'll only hurt more," Luke said softly as he reached over and grabbed her hand. He lowered it down to her lap and slowly let go, putting his hand back in his pocket.
Quinn watched him as he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. He always seemed to do that in weird situations like this. It was kind of cute. She mind drifted back to last night. She thought that if Luke didn't truly care about her, why would he do all that he did? He came to help her get her friends from the bar, fought off Michael for her, took her back to his apartment for something other than banging her, and so much more.
"Is it bad? My face?" Quinn broke the silence that had fallen on them. Luke looked up at her and pity filled his eyes. "It's not as bad as me, don't worry," he reassured her. He slowly reached up to pull the hood off, grimacing at the pain.
Quinn's eyes widened as she looked at his beaten face. She expected worse, but his slightly swollen cheek and bruised eye still looked awful. "I'm sorry he did that," she mumbled softly, dropping her eyes to the white sheets.
