I roundhouse kicked the Student Council President without hesitation. He went down and I was not letting him get back up. I grabbed the nearby fire extinguisher and dealt several blows to his head, grimacing when I heard the crunch of his skull and blood flew all over me.
I heard a groan behind me and narrowly dodged the Vice President who was trying to take a chunk out of my shoulder, swinging the fire extinguisher and taking her out too.
I heard the pained screams of someone in one of the classrooms and I frowned but walked past it, my grip on the fire extinguisher tightening.
It wasn't like I didn't want to help. I simply knew. If they were screaming like that then it was already too late. I couldn't do anything for them. So I continued on without looking back, even when the screaming stopped.
I heard a multitude of moans up ahead and the unmistakeable sound of dragging feet and ran toward a random classroom and pressed my ear to the door. I couldn't hear any moans or groans behind the door but it still made me uneasy to just go in however it was a no brainer considering my alternative which would be waiting for what sounded like a horde of those things to bang the corner and then corner me.
I took a gamble and opened the door and quietly slipped inside before quickly turning around with my fire extinguisher in my hands at the ready.
The room was empty and it looked like it had been vacated quickly. It wasn't surprising considering the current state of affairs.
By now, you're probably wondering who I am and just what the heck is going on, am I right?
Name's Katya Rivera, age 17. I'm a Second Year student at Fujimi Boarding School and one of the school's star Martial Artists. Hand to hand and melee combat are my specialty. My small height is an asset to me in this case because then I can take out your legs and keep you in one place so I can finish you off.
What isn't my speciality however, is getting eaten by zeds.
Yes, you read right, zeds, as in zombies; the undead; whatever the hell you wanna call them.
This started out like a typical school day. I woke up, I freshened up, I ate, I left for class, I reached classed, I sat in class but didn't pay attention, I ditched class and scared a few people and I was waiting for lunch time so that I could go back to my dorm and play on my NDS.
Except I never got to that last one.
What did happen however was pure chaos.

I fingered strands of my colorful hair as I walked down the various hallways in our school. This was probably my favorite extra curricular activity--ditching.
Before you go all, 'Education is key', I read my text books and study material before hand so I'm ahead. Don't get your underwear in a bunch, I'm not an idiot.
Of course I wasn't the only one who ditched so it wasn't a surprise when Takashi Komuro came walking down the hallway toward me, eyes focused on something only he could see. No doubt Rei Miyamoto. Takashi was in the second year like me and he was a good-looking guy with brown hair and intense brown eyes. Rei was a year older but thanks to a certain pedophile on our school's staff she got held back a year and is in the same class as Takashi. Of course not a lot of people knew the real reason she was held back but when you're almost always introverted like me, you notice things no one else does.
I walked past Takashi without a word. I'm not exactly a talker. See, I'm originally from South America and I love Japan but I didn't want to live here separated from everyone I knew and loved but of course, who cares what you want once you're not an adult, right?
