Chapter 3: Surprise Visits
"I just wanna run..."
"Ugh," I moaned. It was 5:30 in the morning and I have to get ready for school. I hate school so much! Sometimes I thought about not showing up and maybe today was one of those days, but I decided against it. I rolled over and pounded my fist on the alarm, still groggy upon waking up from my deep slumber.
I got up and walked into my bathroom, peering into the mirror. My hair was disheveled, makeup smeared across my pale face along with bags under my eyes, and my clothes were wrinkled. Displeased with my appearance, so made my way to the shower and turned it on. I hopped in the shower and let the hot beads of water pelt my face, as I let my thoughts drift off into space.
After 15 minutes I got out and slipped on my black leggings, along with my Falling in Reverse shirt. I applied my makeup, which took about five minutes, and exited the bathroom into my room. On the way out I grabbed my bag and put on my converse.
As I walked down the stairs I yelled, "Elise will you drive me to school?"
Silence.
"That's strange," I whispered to myself.
When I reached the bottom of the stairs I strolled into the kitchen. I went to the cabinets and grabbed a box of cereal. when I set the bowl on the table I found a not from Elise:
Quinn,
I had to leave early to run some errands, sorry for the inconvenience. I should b home around 6 tonight, so just order a pizza for dinner. Have a good day at school.
~Elise
That's just great, now I have to walk to school. I looked at the clock and it was already 6:30, meaning I had to leave now or I would be late. So much for breakfast...
The icy wind slapped my face as I opened the door. I strayed to roam down the sidewalk, making my way to Sleepy High (my high school). Today was a gloomy day, with cold wind along with the storm clouds that were rolling in. I loved when the weather was like this, there was just something so peaceful about it.
I was about halfway to school when it felt like I was being watched. Instinctively, I turned around and looked in every direction. There was nothing there, but the feeling of mortal stalk still reverberated through me.
Could they have found me?
I shook my head, I'm just being paranoid. My steps quickened just in case, and I swear I heard heavy steps right behind me. I whirled around once again and found nothing. This is really creepy. There was only about a block left before I reached school, so I decided to run the rest of the way.
I made it to school with 10 minutes to spare and decided to go to my locker. As I approached my locker I noticed that Aubrey was already there.
"Hey Quinn!" she exclaimed.
"Hi Aubrey, why are you here so early?" I asked
"I had to take a test," she simply stated.
"That sucks," I said. I met Aubrey in kindergarten and we have been friends ever since then.
Aubrey started to talk again, "Well I have to go, but I will talk to you later.
"Okay," I waved bye as she left. I turned back and collected my books for first hour.
* several classes later*
"Just two more minutes," I whispered. I was in the middle of english, and the next hour was lunch. My stomach growled, signaling that I was hungry. I couldn't wait to eat, considering I skipped breakfast this morning.
Ding!
Finally! I dashed out of the room and ran to my locker. The halls became quickly congested with starving students. I grabbed my lunch and made my way to the cafeteria. When I walked through the door, my friends started signaling for me to hurry up and get my seat.
I sat down in between Aubrey an Olivia, and opened my bag. We all started to eat, while gossiping about the latest news. I hated when my friends gossiped and normally just zone out. it was always the same conversations, and I just wasn't interested.
Around 12:3o I somehow ended up throwing everyone's garbage away. when I turned to go back to my table I ran into a hard structure.
"Ow, sorry" I said.
"Well look what we got here boys," someone said.
I looked up and noticed I was surrounded by three boys. The one to my right was blonde with big, brown puppy-like eyes. On my left was a brunette with bright emerald orbs, and the one I smacked into had dark black hair, with the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen.
"What do you want," I scoffed.
"Well aren't you rude," said the brunette.
"Now boys lets just get down to business," the blue eyed one said.
Business, what do they mean?
The blonde started to speak," we've had our eyes on you lately Quinn."
"What, why!? Wait how do you know my name?" the questions poured out of my mouth.
"That's for us to know and for you to find out," he said.
And with that they disbanded, leaving me there speechless.
