Chapter 7: The Call
Today I felt like crap. Right now I'm at the mall with Aubrey. I didn't really want to go, but I haven't hung out with my best friend in a while. To be honest I was a little scared to be out today. I haven't spoken to the boys ever since the incident, and I definitely didn't want to see them today.
"So what stores do you want to go to?" Aubrey asked me.
I thought about this, "It doesn't really matter."
"Okay then don't complain when you want to go somewhere," she smirked
I missed that smile of hers. I've been so busy I forgot how fun it was to be with my friend. Aubrey is the kind of girl who doesn't care about anything and will state her opinion, whether you like it or not. Even though it sounds rude, that's what makes us best friends.
We went to a few stores and bought shirts, jeans, sweater, whatever peeked our interest. After shopping at about six stores, my stomach started to make sounds.
"Hey can we get something to eat, I'm starving," I asked Aubrey.
"Your stomach is grumbling too?" she asked while smiling.
"Yea," I replied.
She started to look around," Hmmmm where do you want to go?"
"How about that place over there," I pointed.
She shrugged her shoulders, "Sure."
We walked over to the line, ordered our food, and sat at a table. I looked up from my phone and saw Aubrey staring at something behind me.
"What are you looking at?" I questioned.
"Don't you know him?" she asked me.
I turned around and saw a boy standing across the mall. Oh no, it was Gage.
"Oh my god yes" I groaned "just don't look at him because I don't want him to see me here."
"Let's just leave then," Aubrey suggested. I nodded and we threw our food away.
As we were walking away Aubrey stopped,"Wait I want to go to one more store."
I didn't want to but I agreed anyway," Fine but we need to hurry up."
We ran into the store and Aubrey started to look around. I just stood by the exit while I waited for her to finish up. After five minutes passed I started to get antsy.
"Can you hurry up please?" I shouted to Aubrey across the store. Just as I asked that she came towards me carrying a bag.
"Okay we can leave now," she said cheerily.
"Thank goodness," I huffed.
We walked out of the Hot Topic and turned the corner. I started to laugh, because Aubrey ran into someone. The. I realized who that person was and stopped.
"Sorry," Aubrey mumbled, obliviously embarrassed.
"It's fine," Gage replied while looking up. A look of puzzlement and shock filled his face "Quinn?"
"Look I really don't want to talk to you," I bluntly stated.
"Too bad because I'm not leaving," he said"
"That doesn't mean I have to talk to you," I remarked "Come on Aubrey."
Aubrey and I started to walk away, but Gage just walked right along with us. Why couldn't he just leave me alone?
"Can you just go away?" I snapped
He just stared at me "No."
"Why, what part of I don't want to talk to, do t you understand!" I screamed.
He was trying hard not to laugh at me "I don't really care what you want," he simply stated.
Gage was really starting to piss me off, plus a crowd was starting to gather. I didn't want to be anywhere near him and his friends, they have done nothing but bring trouble with them.
I was getting ready to reply when I felt my phone buzzing in my back pocket. I grabbed it and read the name flashing across the screen. All the color drained out of my face as my knees grew weak. My hands started to shake as I let the phone drop onto the ground. The person calling me was my dad......
NOTE:
Okay so I have had some questions about the call. Yes, both of her parents are dead, so it's not actually him calling her. When they were kidnapped everything was taken away from them so they couldn't call the police, so whoever took her parents stuff still has the phone and is using it to scare Quinn. Sorry if you were confused
