"Maybe she could stay with me....." Said Calvin suddenly. He didn't know what he was doing, but he knew it was the right thing to do. "Are you sure you could handle that, Calvin?" Larry asked with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah, a-are you sure?" Lainey asked hoping he would say yes. "Uh well, I don't know.... But, I don't really want Lainey to live with that guy..." Calvin said pointing at Larry's phone. "Well, how old are you?" Asked Larry. "20" "Well, you are over 18, so you could become her legal guardian...but it is a huge responsibility Calvin...." "I know... But trust me when I say that I care about Lainey. A lot. And I would do anything to give her a good life. And I'm fairly sure that Fred couldn't do that." Calvin said confidently. At this point Lainey was becoming so excited, she could barely keep still. "Well, Calvin, if you're sure, we can make the arrangements so that you have custody over her." "I'm sure." Calvin said.
Larry helped Calvin get the papers to fill out, and told home that he would have to do a few more things, and maybe after a few weeks it would all be settled.
Lainey and Calvin then went home. Once they got home, Lainey bear hugged Calvin for the millionth time since his decision. "Why do you keep hugging me?" Calvin chuckled as playfully pushed her off of him. "Because you didn't have to do that. I did NOT want to live with uncle Fred, and you saved me. And now I get to live with such a cool guy as basically my dad." Lainey said with a big grin. "Don't call me dad." Calvin said sternly as he held In a laugh. "Whatever you say..........dad" Lainey said with a loud laugh.
Calvin chased Lainey around the living room until they plopped on the couch, and he started tickling her. Lainey started laughing as loud as ever and tried to tickle Calvin. They stopped because they were both out of breath from laughing too much
