"So, how was it?" My uncle raised his eyebrow in amusement as I leaned against the front door where Edan had just left after giving me a kiss on the cheek. Well not missing his sneaky little grin when he saw my flushed face.

"What, the project work? It was not bad, it's just that I found out that-" I paused abruptly, thinking whether I should really tell uncle Martin that Edan was my mate. I mean, there's nothing wrong about it right? Although I have no idea how I'm supposed to react about meeting my mate.

"You found out that what?" He sat up from the couch as I plopped myself on a chair by his side.

"Edan told me that I'm his mate." I shrugged. My uncle knew that I had rarely any connection with my wolf, and that served as a permanent reminder to me that I was not the strong werewolf my family wanted to be. I bit my lip to stop it from quivering.

Uncle Martin seemed to be silent for awhile, his eyes staring straight ahead as he thought hard. I wondered what he was thinking about, maybe about how he was going to help me with the mate situation.

"So how do you feel about that?" He finally asked. I shrugged again.

"I really don't know. Somehow I feel thankful that my mate could sense the pull but I just met Edan and I'm not so sure if I can trust him. He is quite the troublemaker - but sometimes you can also see that he's nice too."

He chuckled, "so what is it then? Do you believe him? Maybe you two might want to try it out?"

"Maybe," I sighed. Well, he was single.

"Okay. Let's have dinner and call miss Horton down so you can get to sleep quickly, alright?" He smoothed my hair and I nodded in response.

"Okay."

I came out of the steaming shower and quickly pulled on my pajamas. I was so tired that my body complained and ached for sleep.

I dived into my bed and finally closed my eyes after wishing goodnight to my parents. But somehow that night I felt like I couldn't fall asleep despite how greatly drowsy I was. Why was my heart beating so fast? Why did I feel so nervous?

It felt like two hours before I could finally relax just the slightest bit and force myself to sleep. Something was bugging me alot.

The moment when the darkness consumed me, I felt a sharp jab onto my left leg.

My eyes opened in surprise and I couldn't see anything but a shadow looming over me quietly. It was definitely not my uncle, but a stranger. That was when I began to panick -
What happened to him?

I attempted to scream but nothing was heard as a numbness from my leg spread through my body like forest fire and eventually, whatever he injected me with took charge and I felt weak. It was a sleeping medicine, thiopental, maybe.

"Where. . Where is my uncle?" I drowsily fell back to my bed and the stranger picked me up in his arms. I attempted to push him away but I was on the brink of sleep so my eyes were half shut.

As expected, the stranger didn't give an answer as he carried me out of the house through the living room - which was really odd. If he was being discreet about his kidnapping, why was he being an idiot and risking the chance of someone like my uncle, who has brilliant senses, to catch him?
