Dropping my pen in shock, I angrily stood up to the loud knocking on the door combined with my uncle shouting downstairs.

"Serene! Could you get the door? I'm a little busy!" His voice echoed from the kitchen. I marched towards the door and opened, revealing a black leather jacket. Wait, what?

My eyes travelled upwards, slowly making out the tall and manly figure until I reached his eyes. Those eyes.

I panicked. After what happened in school, I think he hated me. Why was he here? How the hell did he know where I lived?

"Oh, wrong house!" I said rather loudly so that my uncle could hear. I tried to shut the door but his foot came in between. Dammit!

"No, I think I got to the right house." He let himself in, pushing me away. He smiffed the air and sighed loudly. "Nice place."

My fists curled at my sides as he smirked. I was almost ready to throw him out of the door but my uncle unfortunately came in view.

"Serene! Who the hell-" his sentence was cut short as he sniffed the air, eyes growing black. He glared at Edan's direction which made me frown in confusion.

"Werewolf," he growled and stepped closer until he was face to face with Edan. My uncle was a tall man but Edan was much taller, making him seem less intimidating.

"What pack are you from?" His voice was fierce and demanding, which showed his aggressivness to the unknown wolf who entered his territory, which was the house.

"Cleveland. Cleveland pack, sir." Edan replied with a nod of his head, but his eyes not looking anywhere else. I realised he just admitted to both of us that he was a werewolf. Oh shit. Does his girlfriend know about this?

"Why do you smell so different?" My uncle asked suspiciously,
"Clevelands are miles away. What are you doing all the way here in this town?"

"My family were sent away from our old pack, so we found refuge with the Clevelands because they were the only ones who would take us in. But we were only welcomed to stay, not be accepted into the new pack. So after a few years my parents received a message from someone and we immediately moved out."

"Why? What do you know about the message?" My uncle asked.

"No, sir. My parents refused to explain to me anything." His face turned impassive and I knew he had some issues with them which he didn't feel like discussing. My uncle noticed and stopped pushing the topic.

"Hey what's your old pack?" The two raised their eyes and I was even shocked by my sudden interruption. An unexpected blush spread through my cheeks as Edan stared at me.

"I was barely two when they kicked us out. So I don't know where I came from." Oh no. Being sent away by your pack is one of the worst feelings ever. I wondered what his family did that caused them to move out. In my case, was for safety. I wouldn't be surprised if Edan's pack were trying to protect them from Emmerson wolves too.

"I believe you." My uncle slacked his tensed shoulders and gave a warm smile, "Make yourself at home, yeah? And may I know what you're doing at our house?"

Something flashed across Edan's eyes before he returned a charming grin. "Well, your niece and I are partners for a science project."

"Oh." My uncle turned to glare at me, "I was wondering why she was driving you away." I rolled my eyes getting irritated.

"Okay, uncle! We'll just go to my room, alright?" I gritted my teeth before dragging Edan upstairs to my room so uncle could go back to cooking.

"Since when did we agree you could come to my house without permission at six in the evening? I angrily walked up the stairs and I nearly exploded when I heard Miss Horton's voice.

"Oh dear, you have a visitor! And he's a boy!" She chuckled, "I've never seen a young boy with you before. Don't do anything risky up there!" With that, I slammed my bedroom door shut.

"Ooh, rough." I ignored his comment as I sat him down on the bed and grabbed a couple of notes and materials before I threw them at him and sat on the opposite.

"Ow, bitch. What's your problem?" He complained.

"I don't know so don't ask. You know what? Don't talk to me at all." I grabbed a pencil and paper before writing notes for our project.

"Is something bothering you?" He carefully asked and that somehow made me angrier.

"I DON'T KNOW OKAY! I REALLY DON'T KNOW. I HAVE TOO MANY PROBLEMS AND YOU'VE BECOME ONE OF THEM." I let out my anger on him and surprisingly he didn't move away or even blink by my outburst. He looked so calm and just kept staring at me confused.

"I see. Do you want to talk about it?" He asked reluctantly, like he was coaxing a little child.

"As if you even care to listen to my problems." I huffed out. I glanced at his  expecting face and rolled my eyes.

"Why did you kiss me?" I stared accusingly at him. Might as well we start from the beginning.

There was tension between us for a second before he replied smoothly, "I couldn't resist." Was his smart reply. "My wolf was all crazy and I wasn't in control. So blame him for kissing you."

I scoffed at his silliness, "So what are we, soulmates?" I joked. I shook the thought away and continued working on the project. There was complete, utter silence that made me uncomfortable and I looked over at him. Just as I saw his face, reality started to seep in..

What! No, no. No freaking way..

I leaped from the bed and papers were scattered everywhere making the place as messed up as my head.

"You don't mean we're.." That word!

He shrugged, flashing a cocky grin. "I'm surprised you just found out. Wouldn't you have known by now? What the hell happened to your wolf?"

Oh no. He might find out about my past, and what if he finds out about my secret? What impression would I give to my mate? If he really was my mate..

"You have a girlfriend." Was the first thing that came out of my stupid mouth and I fought the urge to cover it.

Edan glanced at me with those calming ocean eyes before he threw his head back and laughed which made me a little squirmish. I have never heard him laugh a full one before.

"Yeah, she actually was my girlfriend. We kind of broke it off a few months ago. She does call me pet names once in a while out of habit, but we're just friends now." He shrugged, grinning. He knew I was worried and caught off-guard, but he didn't say anything to joke around.

"Oh. So you're really single?" With those good looks of his..

"Nope," he jumped up and began picking up the scattered papers on the floor. I frowned at his crouching form.

"No, because I found you." His face came close to mine before he handed me the papers.

"So, shall we finally get started?" Edan smirked and I nodded in agreement, not knowing what else I must say.
