"Way! If you don't move your butt, I'll cut you off. Find a job!" His mother shouted through the phone first thing in the morning. Way got disturbed by a phone call which was better than a shot of espresso. He checked the time in his phone.
1PM. Afternoon. He corrected himself. It was only the second week of his newfound freedom and his mother was already hounding his ass for a job. Sure he got his degree and now he's ready to face the world but he would like to think that because of this achievement, he earned a long vacation. Unfortunately, his parents thought differently.
"Can I do it next month? I just want to have fun for a bit." He whined pitifully at his mother. For awhile, he really wanted to live like a sloth.
"A BIT?!" The screeching noise from her mother told him that it was clearly the WRONG thing to say. Way's ears were ringing. "You young man will FIND A JOB or else...."
The call ended before Way could formulate a reply.
Way let his phone bounce on his bed and looked at the ceiling forlornly. This was seriously bad. His mother's threats are always true. If he didn't find a job before his mother checks on him again, he's in trouble. Even in their house, his father is also afraid of her. Who wouldn't? Disobey her and you'll get no food, a dirty laundry and a lot of nagging. It was simply hell.
So here he was in a local office checking if there are any job vacancies in the area. He still didn't want a boring desk job. Sure he worked hard for his degree but his still in the gutter to put it simply.
The listings for job vacancies were all temporary positions that pay minimum.
He had already checked online and most of the jobs that pay good money requires experience which he didn't have. There were other jobs where he was qualified but they demanded an insane amount of work hours. He'll quit within a week if he applies to any of those.
"I'm toast." He muttered to himself when he walked out of the center empty handed.
He was doomed. In his mind, he could envision himself homeless and hungry. Way couldn't get help from Pan and K.O. as they've gone back home. He wished he could do the same but his family didn't have enough money to send him home.
Being poor sucks but that's his life.
He walks home but when he got lost in his own thoughts, he missed a turn and ended up in front of a club.
Way paused for a second and recalled that it looked familiar. He then remembered that it was the same place where K.O. got tickets from a junior. It was different in the daylight. The light, sounds, and people lining up made the place alive. Without it, the place just looks empty.
A notice caught his eye. It looked like the club is looking for a staff to help with the records of some sort. The workdays and time seem okay. It doesn't require a lot of hours and the side benefit is that he gets to enjoy the perks of the club if he gets employed.
Trying out this job right now is looking more and more attractive. There's nothing to lose at this moment.
The door opens and a couple of people by the bar and some staff cleaning the floor looked up.
"Uh hey. I saw this ad in front and I was wondering if I could apply for it?" Way sounded unsure when he saw the way they smile. It was a little weird but shook it off as standard thing for the staff.
"Just sit wherever and I'll call our manager." A red-haired female wearing a standard black shirt by the bar told him before disappearing upstairs.
He saw the office on the second floor that overlooks everything. Way sat by the VIP seats. It was still early so the tables are stacked together.
Way remembers the place full of people and the music pulsing through his skin that night. Now with more light and almost no people around, the stark difference took a bit time getting used to.
While waiting, he hummed quietly. He didn't want to open up his phone and get to into a game and embarrass himself. He does hope he get this job so his mother won't make his life hell.
JJ, the owner of the club saw someone walked into the club. It was a new face and from the looks of it, it was about the notice his friend slash investor put outside.
"You know Roo, I don't really need additional staff." The blonde haired male looked beside him and brushed off an imaginary lint from his friend's arm.
Roo, dark haired and dashing, who isn't afraid to use his charms even at his friend simply grinned. "I invested in this place so let me have my fun." He playfully touched JJ's arm as if returning the favor.
The owner raised a brow, picking up something from Roo. "You're looking for someone, aren't you? This is not typical behavior for you."
Sharp teeth glinted from his smile, making more predatory. "I got a taste for one. This one is simply irresistible."
JJ made a sound of interest. "Curious. Who could this be?"
Someone knocked on the door, disrupting their conversation. One of the female staff entered with a smirk. "Another one came in. Human. Are we really hiring one?"
"Don't blame me. This guy started it." JJ pointed Roo. The man simply smiled, annoying his friend some more.
"Thanks baby girl. I'll be coming down in a minute." The owner winked before turning his attention back to Roo. "Behave my deviant friend. I have a potential employee to interview."
"No promises JJ. I like my fun."
Way didn't wait long. He heard footsteps approaching him and when he turned around, he met the eyes the he wished would never meet again.
"Hello gorgeous."
