I thought the Sutton was really close to campus meaning it was close to my pace, turns out I've been walking for 45 minutes already to reach the hotel. I was so glad when I got there because my fingers were about frozen from the wind outside.
The lobby was spacious and put together with such grace. It was surely the type of fancy hotels with the chandeliers hanging above each step you take, I believe most businessmen stay here for their fancy business trips.
After a few minutes of admiration, I finally reached the counter where the front desk clerk was talking on the phone. I'm surprised that in such a big hotel they only had one clerk at the front, especially on a long weekend too. Anyways, I patiently waited for her to finish on the phone first.
She looked experienced, but perhaps not the manager or supervisor. The lady was probably in her late fifties, she had auburn hair that only reached to her shoulders. Her face was poignant when I stepped forward to her, she didn't look pleased about her job. On second thought, she looked more exhausted.
"Hi miss, can I help you with something?" she ask me as the corner of her lips curve up into a friendly smile.
"Yes, hi, I'm supposed to meet my friends at a restaurant but he left his wallet at my place, and I'm just wondering if you could call for them to come down," I asked.
If only if my phone was not at it's last bar, talk about first world problems.
"May I see his ID then?"
I pulled out Joe's ID and handed it over to her. She clicked onto the computer and scanned through the list of clients' that have checked in under the surname, Jonas.
"Hmm... oh Nick?" my eyes darted over to her as I watch her shake her head and mumble something to herself before returning the card back to me, "I'm sorry miss but Joseph Jonas is not checked in to our hotel."
"Sorry--oh how about Demetria Lovato? It may be under her name," I asked again.
"Okay," she clicks on the computer to check for Demi's name and frowns, "Sorry, I'm afraid your friends are not checked in at this hotel."
"Eh-oh okay, thanks anyways," I took the ID card back and slipped it back into the wallet. "Wait, can I borrow the phone to call my friends? My phone is dead battery."
"Sure, here, just dial 8 before you put in the phone number," she smiles handing the phone to me before she returns to her work.
I let the phone ring a few times, for both Demi and Joe neither of them picked up so I had to leave them a voicemail. I returned the phone back to the clerk lady before I left to go meet Demi and Joe at the restaurant.
As I made my way to the restaurant my mind could only focus on the part when the clerk mentioned Nick's name. It sounds crazy but if Demi and Joe are not checked in at this hotel, why would they have the business card from this hotel. More importantly, the name of Nick is still circulating through my head. Could it be possible?
I was too afraid to confirm anything.
"SELENA!" I spun around at the call of my name, it was Demi she was waving at me all hyped. I smiled and waved back as I walked over to her and Joe. "What were you thinking so hard about? You completely missed us."
Apparently I was so dazed off into my thoughts I mhad completely missed the restaurant. Which was pretty hard given that there was such a big crowd in line for a seat too. And Demi and Joe were probably like third or fourth in line.
"Duh, trying to see if you guys could recognize me," I teased them, "Oh by the way... Joe were you able to pay for anything for the past 12 hours?"
