~10 Years Later~

I  lift my watermelon backpack back onto my back. I remember the moment I met my very first friend, or watermelon buddy, and I smile.

"Hey N/n!" Garroth says, running to catch up with me. (No, you are not dating, yet. *wink wink* just cute nicknames dats all)

"Hey Gar Gar!" I say back. "Finally! The last day of school is over!"

"Yeah! Finally summer time!"

"And then... High school" I say, shivering.

"Yea..." He replies.

"Promise me that we will still be friends, or watermelon buddies, in high school."

"I promise."

I look into Garroth's sea blue  eyes and zone out for a minute. Yes, I do like- like is an understatement. I love Garroth. We have been friends for 10 years.

"I can walk you home?" Garroth says, bringing me back to reality.

"U-Uh sure! I don't know where Laurance is so yea!" I reply as Garroth makes a look once I mention my boyfriend.

Let me explain. It is complicated. I love Garroth, but somehow I'm dating Laurance. (Yes. I will crash this Laurance thing soon. don't you dare pick up the pitchforks.) I know Garroth doesn't like me dating Laurance. I can tell. It's just... I make Laurance so happy... I don't know how to go with Garroth. Technically, I started dating Laurance from a dare that went wrong. The dare was to tell someone you don't like like that you like like them. Laurance thought I wasn't kidding.. and we're dating... I just don't know what to do. I plan on trying to soften the blow when I tell him I'm dumping him. I plan on dumping him soon though.. I hope...

"Garroth... I-I don't l-like Laurance... I just don't know how to tell him..." I say right as Laurance runs over and hears.

"You don't? Then why did you say yes to being my girlfriend...?" He says with a sad expression.

"A d-dare that went wrong... You were so happy with me... I just couldn't bear crushing you..." I reply, and look over to Garroth to help me.

"I understand." He says, hugging me in a friendly way. "See you over the summer then, as friends. I also heard that Garroth likes you, just a heads up!" Laurance whispers the last sentence to me, then walks to his bus.

Garroth heard, and his face is as red as a tomato. I start laughing really really hard and fall onto the ground.

"Y-You look like a t-tomato!" I say in between laughs.

"W-Whatver! Lets just g-go!" Garroth says, smiling and running ahead of me.

"WAIT FOR ME SHORTIE" I say running after him

~~

You called him shortie because you are slightly taller then him :3
