Matt didn't forget to tell me that I needed to find a job.
I was walking through the same streets as yesterday and every other day hoping that a shop owner would see me and change their mind on hiring me. No one did. I made my way to a beauty store knowing that I was running out of foundation.
I was at the Benefit area looking for my shade of color when I heard a conversation with the lady next to me.
"I know, I'm not saying I'm quitting. All I'm saying is that I need help. Lux is needing me right now that Tom won't be able to care for her. I need to take her places and might be missing a few days. I feel if we get a helper he/she may be with the boys and me and when I need to leave she'll know what to do. Doing makeup and hair won't be hard on them. I just need a pair of extra hands those days."
I was intrigued already. I waited for her to answer back the other person while I acted like I was looking for more makeup.
"Thank you and don't worry I'll get someone quickly, but that can work well, for I'll be out in a few days."
She ended the call no longer and put her phone in her back pocket. If I was shy of talking to strangers I needed to overcome it. It was either talking to her, or waiting for a beating from Matt.
Matt. If I went home saying I had a job I wonder what he would do. I'm sure he would be happy. I'd finally listen to him. A smile grew on my lips knowing that he'd be happy.
The lady was already making her way to the cashier when I started following her.
"Excuse me?"
She turned around. She was young, or looked young. She was pure beauty. "Yes."
"I listened to you talking and I've learned you are looking for someone who does makeup."
Her eyes looked at me up and down.
"I do makeup, and I've been trying to get... a job."
She looked at me for a while. Maybe she was gathering something from me that would get me the job. "What's your name?"
"Olivia, Olivia Cole."
"Look Olivia I need someone-"
"Please."
She stared once again and let out a sigh.
"Let me pay and then I'll talk to you about the job."
I had learned from Lou that I was going to do makeup and hair, to which she will teach me because I only do makeup, on four guys from a band. I would have to leave on tour with them once it starts, but I would have to meet with them tomorrow so that i could get to know them better. Tour would start in a week. Lou also told me that I needed to meet with them three days before tour with them so I could practice on them.
It sounded easy.
Happily I made my way back home. I wasn't scared of entering the house today, I had good news. "Babe, Matt I've got good news!" I yelled out once I entered through the door. I threw my purse at the couch and went upstairs. He was in our room. He looked my way when i opened the door. I made my way to him, sitting by his side.
"What's with the yelling?"
"Guess who got a job?" I grinned.
His mouth went up to a sideway smile.
"I will work as a makeup artist" I said jumping a bit on the bed.
"What?"
"I start tomorrow."
"For who?" His demeanor changed but I didn't notice due to my excitement.
"For a band, four guys, I'm leaving on tour with them" I said all in one breathe.
My happiness vanished in just one second. I thought he would be happy. This is what he wanted. He'd beat me every day for the past weeks because I'd come home with no job. Now I have a job and thinking that he'd be happy was wrong of me. I never really know how Matt will react to anything, but for some stupid reason I thought he would change from the last days. I expected a kiss, a meaningful one, a hug, congratulations, or maybe just a smile. But those are too much to ask for now a day's instead I got what I don't hope for. But that's easier for him to give.
