Steve's Point of View
"What do we do first?" Clint asks, looking up as the Chitauri pour out of the space hole.
"We fight them." Stark shrugs before blasting off towards the hole.
"We need to find somewhere safe to put Elizabeth while she's still unconscious." I interject, standing up with her in my arms.
"We can put her in the jet." Natasha suggests. Clint and I nod so the three of us take off back towards the jet. Once we get there, I gently lay her on the floor by the cockpit of the jet.
"I'm gonna need some help guys!" Stark yells through the communication piece we each have.
"Right. We'll use the jet to get to higher ground. Get settled everyone." Clint instructs as he and Natasha sit in the front. They push a few buttons before Clint maneuvers the jet back into the air. However, we don't get very far. As we fly up past the top of Stark Towers, we see Thor and Loki fighting.
"Can you get me a clear shot?" Natasha asks Clint as he positions the jet towards the two. Clint nods as Loki throws Thor onto the ground.
Natasha controls the machine gun that lowers from the bottom of the jet. She doesn't get a good hit before Loki turns around and sends a blast of blue light towards the jet. Cling tries to move the jet, but the left wing gets hit.
"I have to put her down." Clint yells, frustrated. Just then, I feel a hand being placed gently on top of mine.
"Steve?" her voice calls out to me quietly.
"Elizabeth?" I ask, turning to face her. My face lights up when I see her awake and struggling to sit up.
"Now really isn't a good time for a reunion!" Natasha yells from the front of the jet as it slowly continues it's descent towards the ground.
"What's going on?" Elizabeth asks then.
"Loki's army is here. We have to fight them."
"I can help." she offers.
"No, you can't. You have a knife sticking out of your knee." I politely refuse her offer.
"Cap, we might need all the help we can get." Clint points out grimly.
I take a deep breath before I reiterate, "She has a knife sticking out of her knee."
"Let me see." Natasha sighs before walking over to us. She kneels down next to Elizabeth and looks at her knee for a few seconds before she gets up and walks over to a cabinet in the jet. She pulls out a first aid kit and a few strips of cloth before walking over to us.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. likes to think ahead." she mutters to me before she sets everything down next to Elizabeth.
"This is going to hurt." she quietly tells Elizabeth as she grips the knife. I take Elizabeth's hand in mine as Natasha pulls the knife out.
"Guys, we're about to hit the ground!" Clint yells, but he was quickly drowned out by the gut wrenching sound of Elizabeth screaming out in pain. She squeezes my hand tightly as she screws her eyes shut.
I press a quick kiss to her forehead before watching Natasha press several pieces of gauze into her now bleeding wound. She then gently places more gauze around Elizabeth's wound, so all of the wound is covered, before she tightly wraps a strip of cloth around the gauze to hold it in place. She then adds a few more strips of cloth before she's satisfied with her work.
"Here, take a couple of these. It'll keep the pain away." Natasha says to Elizabeth as she hands her two bright orange pills. Elizabeth looks at me before she hesitantly swallows the pills.
