seven; Dinner

She sits at the table, not daring to lift her gaze up. The fork she hold in her hand shakes lightly, due to her anxious nature, and she tries to steady it, but makes it much worse.

"So, Miss Logan, where did you come from before settling here?" Alice's husband, James, asks with a smile on his face.

He's a nice guy, but she could tell he is the jealous type. He barely even looks at Alfred and made Alice sit as far away as possible.

Logan looks up, her blue eyes shifting from the three people at the table. She shrugs lightly, an awkward grin on her lips.

"I come from, um, a futuristic  kind of place. Not a lot of people have heard of it." She nods along with her lie.

Technically, she does live in the future, so it's only a tiny lie. James nods, the same smile on his lips. Though, it's the same look Harper gives her when she has no idea what she's talking about.

She bites her lips, glancing over go Alfred. He looks about as uncomfortable as her, his shoulder tensing every few seconds and his eyes jumping from place to place.

"Well, I'm certainly glad Alfred finally found a girl." James slaps Alfred's back, "Bout time, eh, pal?"

There's an awkward pause where Alfred and Logan glance at each before beginning to deny what he said with red tinting their cheeks.

"She's not-"

"I'm way to young-"

They both stop to stare at each other before looking down at their plates in embarrassment. James and Alice give each a sly little look, which Logan sees.

"Fine, fine. I'm just poking fun," James's bright smile dims, "Have you heard about the bandits?" The question is directed towards Alfred, whose shoulders seem to sink at the sound of it.

"They're close," James continues on, "Don't chat think we should go into hiding somewhere?"

"What bandits?" Logan asks, curiously, directing her gaze at Alfred.

Alice is the one to answer, "They're a group of horrible men. They kill people and steal there stuff afterwards. No one as lived very long after they have gone through a town."

This must be what Jimmy and Alfred were talking about. It makes sense.

"How close are they?" She asks next.

"People said they've past a town a couple days away from here. I'd say they will be here anytime, unless they chose to pass us up." James chews another piece of meat, "If I were you, little lady, I'd lock the door behind ya."

"Shouldn't someone stop them?"

"You volunteering?" James snorts, "These men are killers, darling. You're just a little girl."

A glare finds its way to her eyes. "At least this little girl has the balls to do what you are to afraid to do."

James's smile leaves quickly, his lips forming into a nasty scowl. "You talking back to me, little missy?"
