There was just something about the way Aleks sat on the couch, slumped over and leaning against Kevin's chest, that made him start observing the other quietly, distracting him from the movie as he noticed details he would never normally notice of the other before. For example: the way Aleks' eyelashes appear longer as he slept, or the way the bridge of his nose curved downwards elegantly, ending in a well-rounded tip that was actually quite adorable. And as his eyes trailed downwards, noticing every little detail from the plumpness of Aleks' pale lips to how gently the Russian's chest rose and fell as he slept, a slight snore could be heard coming from the older whilst he shifted positions ever so slightly until his head was buried in the black fabric of Kevin's shirt and his hair was strewn about messily across his head and cheeks. Kevin couldn't help but smile fondly at the sight, something only Aleks was able to make him do considering his usual apathetic outlook on life and his seemingly stunted emotional responses. Yes, only Aleks could make his heart race like this and cause his smile to genuinely twinkle with affection, only he could cause his emotions to stir ever so slightly in his everyday life, and Kevin was fine with that.
However it was not lost on the half-Asian male that Aleks did not quite feel the same way about him, for the other's own feelings lay strictly within the vicinity of Eddie's heart, and yet he was okay with this. As long as Aleks was happy, he was happy. It did not matter to him whether or not Aleks loved him back, just being close to him and seeing Aleks happy was enough for him. Really it was all he asked for. For him, the significance of his own happiness relied solely in the proximity of physical closeness to the other. If he did not talk or see Aleks at least once a week, he worried, though it was a natural response for him. How couldn't he worry? It was not unknown to him, or his group of friends, that Aleks tended to overwork himself; scheduling recording hours until he was completely booked with no opening for any relaxation, let alone enough time to eat a proper meal or tending to his own personal hygiene--which somehow he managed it quite alright anyways, although his hair was always messy as of late. The brunette always seemed to be getting less and less sleep, exhausting himself to the point where he'd pass out for many hours at a time when he was supposed to be recording with James or him. It was slightly worrying, but only slightly for he knew he could trust in Eddie to keep his boyfriend in good health.
And yet somehow Aleks was able to find time in his schedule to hang out with him, and him only, which he was very happy for. It helped put things in perspective for him; he loved Aleks, but Aleks found him as more of a brother figure or as just a best friend, which made him appreciate this little moment. The significance and the proximity of closeness; yes it had a ring to it. He did not care much for sexual interactions, not really. The only thing that mattered to him at that moment was that he was able to enjoy the Russian's company. And though it was brief, with the older resting peacefully against his chest, he was able to appreciate this little slice of time in all its significance. He was with the most important person to him in the world, and that person was happy and in good health, at least for the moment, that was all that mattered.
