You woke up to the graceful sound of the lawn mower outside your open window and the smell of fresh cut grass. The afternoon sun was shining threw your window and you knew you slept to late but it didn't matter on weekends. You reached for you'r phone and pressed the home button. It was 1 pm on a Saturday and you had a missed calls and a text, both from the same person. It was Calum's mom. You've known Calum since first grade. You met cause you were two shy to talk to any one and he asked you to help him build his Lego tower.
You knew his family quite well and they knew you but it was unusual for his mom to call you. You read the text and it didn't say was wrong just to call his mom back when she got it. You were still groggy but pressed her contact and put the phone to your ear. A few dial tones and she answered, she sounded relieved you called.
"(y/n)!" You knew something was wrong in her tone. "Hello Mrs. Hood, is something wrong?" You couldn't think of anything bad that could have happened.
"Uh yeah...Well puddles died this morning and Calum is...not doing well about it." You could feel your eyes water and the lump forming in the back of your throat. Puddles was the dog Calum had gotten when he was eight. He invited you over when they brought the dog home and you both spent hours in the back yard playing with the golden retriever puppy. You loved that dog just as much as he did. It was't just a pet either. When you were both 14 you had left with your family on vacation and during the week you were gone, Calums grandfather died and that dog was the only on he wanted to see.
"I-I'll be right over." You said standing up looking for your shoes. "Thank you, (y/n)." She barely got the words out when you hung up and threw the phone on your bed getting dressed. A t-shirt and leggings with a sloppy bun had to do. You ran threw the kitchen grabbing your car keys. You didn't see your mom but you didn't want to wait to tell her you were leaving, you would text her later.
Luckily you only lived about 5 minutes away from Calum, 4 minutes the way you were driving, his house was at the opposite end of your neighborhood. You pulled into there driveway, pulled the keys out and slammed your door behind you. You didn't knock you just slowly entered and set your keys in the bowl they kept beside the door. You were over so much everyone could recgonize your keys out of the pile. His mom and dad were sitting on the couch along with his older sister.
"He's in his room dear." She made a weak smile and you nodded your head and began down the hallway to his room. The door was slightly open and you made the gap larger when you stepped in. It was dark and silent. The tv was off and his phone was face down on the nightstand charging. But the least the curtains were open.
"Calum? Calum." He didn't move but you knew he was awake. You walked over to the bed and moved the covers enough for you to crawl in next to him. He still didn't move. You pressed your front to his back and draped your arm over his waist.
"Hey." you starred at the back of his head and looked at the natural color diferences in his hair. You had always loved his hair. You felt him stir and he turned over in his spot and put his head to your chest and hugged you. You could feel him crying and you started yourself. Not only did it kill you to see him crying but you were going to miss that dog yourself. ]
You laid there for a while letting him cry it all out. "Hey, It's okay." You had finished crying out your last few tears.
He looked up at your with big brown eyes that were now red from crying sand beautiful pink lips. If you had to be honest Calum was more than attractive. "Thank you. Not just for this but for being there through everything and being there for me. I love you."
"I love you too." You didn't think much of it and thought he probably didn't either but you wish he did.
"No, I love you Love you...a lot." you didn't know to say or do other than stare at him, which you could do forever. He then leaned in and bridged the gap that your lips have bridged since you became old enough to like other people.
The kiss was amazing. Like something you didn't know you needed until is happened. He drew back and cuddled up to you, both of you trying to get as close as possible. You put one arm around his waist and the other behind his head to play with his hair. It was almost a "finaly" moment.
