Chapter 24

Layla...

      As we pulled up to the event it looked so nice from the outside. The whole car ride Diamond was telling me about the party. It was for a woman named Mercedes, she was turning 29. She was the wife of one of the men Diamond was doing business with. With that being said I would have to have a good first impression.

     When Diamond got out walked across his new Mustang and opened the door for me. As I got out holding the gift he tossed the keys to the valet driver. There was a red carpet that led to the entrance of the building. "They doing it big" I whispered in Diamonds ear. "What other way is it?" He responded with a smirk. At that moment I realized I was fucking with a real one. We stopped let the camera man take a few pictures, then headed inside.

When I tell you my mouth dropped walking inside. It dropped. They had fountain with a little sculpture of a girl on the top. It was high ceilings, a balcony where I saw a couple standing. I assume that the girl was the birthday girl. The dude signaled for Diamond to come up. He grabbed my hand and guided me up the stairs to where they were. "Wassup man" Diamond said dapping the dude up. Me and Mercedes traded friendly smiles when Diamond hugged her. This is "Layla. Layla meet Will and Mercedes"

"Hey guys" I said shyly. "Girl there is no reason to be shy. Diamond you better let her know" I laughed. Mercedes gave me hug. "Happy Birthday and that dress. Girl its slamming" I said. She gave me a twirl in it and I giggled. Then when I looked at Will I shook his hand. Something about him rung a bell in my head. He was a cute brown skin, nice jaw line and a little shorter than Diamond. He had that new nappy hair cut that all the boys was getting. He wasn't bad looking he just wasn't Diamond.

"Where's the gift table?" I asked. "Cmon I'll bring you down there I gotta greet some guest anyway."  As we walked it was a little awkward until she broke the ice asking where I met Diamond. "Well to be technical we knew each other for years like since we were kids. You know then times got hard and we lost track" she gave me that look like she understood. "Girl I understand me and Will been in this together for some time. He even left me before. I just had to let him know I'll cut his dick off if he do it again"  I laughed. "Right. While you say it you gotta make sure he understands that your dead serious too though"

"He already knows how serious I am. Best believe. See I like you. I feel like you a real down chick" "I like you too. It's been a while since I've actually been out and conversed with some actual adults" I said out of honesty.

"Kids?" I nodded "Twins" she shook her head. "Girl I got four, but I still get out and hang with the girls. Even though Will hates it, he understands that I need my own time. You have to separate ''mommy time" and "you time". " I said nodding "You should come out with us next Saturday D and Will can watch the kids and go out with them and have fun"

"If he doesn't have nothing to do. I mean it's hard taking care of 5 month old twins." People came up and started hugging her and telling her happy birthday. Then she'd introduce me. Maybe I could hang with Mercedes she looked like she carries herself well and wasn't for none. I could really use some tips from her in the long run.

After the walk to the table and a long look for Diamond. I finally found him and it's not where I wanted to see him. He had two long faced ass females in his face, and it's crazy cause Mercedes just introduced me to them. I think they names was Starr and Aniyah or Anylah. They looked like they was having a good as conversation. Starr kept doing the little giggle and touching his chest. We haven't even been together for a whole 24 hours and he already pissing me off.

So I walked up a few steps where he could see me, and signaled him to come over. I did it with a smile so these chicks don't know they pissing me off.

"I've been waiting for you, they was really getting on my nerves" he whispers to me. "Yeah okay you seemed to be having fun by the looks of it. Looked like you was really enjoying their company." I said rolling my eyes.

"Man they wouldn't get up off of me" "You a grown ass man. You make em get off of you. There is no choice and if I ain't like Mercedes I would've been let em have it. I'm not even gon let that side come out though. But go ahead and let them do it again and swear to you Diamond Imma fuck all y'all up." He knew I meant it too. I don't play that. Whether it's 3 hours or 3 years I don't play when it comes to mine.

"Step In The Name of Love" by R. Kelly came on. Now being around Diamond growing up and at all his family get togethers I know every word of this song. So when Diamond did his little dance, and did a dip at the end I couldn't even be mad anymore. I just started dancing with him.

We was just having a good time. Nothing but laughter was coming between us. We went from old school to club dancing music. We danced accordingly in the best way we knew how because we both knew we haven't had fun like this in years literally.

After about six songs we sat down and drank a little. Then that was the routine until everybody sat down so we could do dinner. The food was excellent. Like finger licking good. Then we hear Will clear his throat on the microphone and everyone gave him their attention.

"I hope everyone is enjoying their meals but I just wanted to stop so everybody can't stop and see how beautiful my baby looks tonight." Everybody laughed as the light went on Mercedes and she got up and gavee everybody a little peek of her dress as she did a walk. "We have been married for 5 years but together for 8. Man never did I ever think I could settle, then I met her. Y'all she really changed my life. If y'all knew me y'all knew I was into money, and cars and everything else that came with it. Then I met the love of my life and had my 4 beautiful children with her. Even though she make me just wanna run her over with my Lamborghini. Talking about it have y'all seen that pretty thaang ? Like its gleaming. That's why I had to go and get my baby a matching one."

Mercedes screamed like somebody stole her child. Everybody else just started clapping. Will got off the stage and guided her out and everybody followed. In the doorway was a white and gold Lamborghini with a big bow sitting on top. Waiting to be unraveled.

"If we keep fucking with them. You'll have six of them thangs just to have em" Diamond whispered in my ear. After we were served dessert and sang happy birthday. Mercedes gave her speech it was short and typical. We left. I was drained, but it was worth it. I walked in the house with my heels in my hand, and just laid on the couch.

"Layla lets go." I was already halfway sleep. "I'm not moving... You gon carry me to my bed?" He shook his head. He walked over to the couch I was on and picked me up like I was one the babies. "This ain't my room Diamond" I said as he laid me on his bed. "Go to sleep" was all he said. I did just that.
