Demetri...

Today me and Jr. and maybe Shannon is going out. And if you were wondering no, I haven't tried to call Layla. I know she wouldn't answer anyway. I mean like sometimes I care, and other times I just don't give a fuck. Right now I don't give a fuck. She probably not even worried about me. I mean I am the only contact that she had in her phone. Layla ain't really have no friends besides her dead bestfriend. Plus her mom died so I was all she has left.

I shook my head, sitting up from my bed to wake Jr up. I reached over and shook him a little. He opened his eyes, and closed them back snuggling up to me more. I put him on my lap. I just held him like a new born. Holding him reminded me of holding my younger brothers. Protecting them from mom. Especially when she was in her own world.

Mom would always bust through the door. With her hair all crazy in some skimpy shorts, a t-shirt, and some tennis shoes. This was a everyday outfit for her. Through the fall and winter she might have put on some see through leggings, with a worn out jacket. We ain't have it easy at all. When mom did get money, depending on how high she was I would always be able to steal some. I was a stealer and by 13 I was real good at it. I would steal bread from the market. Bracelets and chains.  If the homeless had what I needed I would steal from them too.

Half the time I wouldn't even eat. I would feed my brother's. That all started maybe at 8. By 16 my mom was cleaned up from any type of drugs. Thats when she realized I was slanging. I started selling dope at 12. When I was 14 I would always be sent on some type of set up. Only because I could steal things real good. Only reason why I started slanging was because who else would hire a 12 year old who needed to pay bills. I don't know how we was making it before I had started getting fast money, but we did.

I blame my "father" for all this though. Cause after my parents had my youngest brother Deztavious. My "father" came back around he had momma trying stuff new. Sniffing,  shooting up, rolling up. But hey I ain't against no weed. She tried everything in front of my face. I mean I was the only one who understood. Yeah I was 8, but you see it all around Detroit.  I just never knew that one of them people woukd be my mom. I mean I don't hate my mom. Its just that she made me be the breadwinner for so long, then kick me out cause some man that I hate to call dad said so.

After washing Jr. up and letting him play a little bit. The three of us are in the car heading to the mall. I mean it was supposed to be just him and I. But, Shannon insisted that she must come. When I told Jr.  he was mad. But he's alright now. I don't really care for music.  So I had the music down low. Until I heard Jr. tell me to turn it up.

"This is my jam" He said and started to throw up his hands.

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team always here

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team here, wigga

I nearly cried when he said wigga. I even started to drive slower just to hear him finish the song.

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team always here

I done kept it real from the jump

Living at my momma's house we'd talk every month

Wigga, I was tryna get it on my own

Working all night, traffic on the way home

Grampa calling me like, "Where ya at?

I gave you the keys, told ya bring it right back”

Wigga, I just think it's funny how it goes

Now I'm on the road, half a million for a show and we...

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team always here

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team here, wigga

Boys tell stories 'bout the man

Say I never struggled, wasn't hungry, yeah, I doubt it

Wigga, I could turn your boy into the man

There ain't really much out here, that's popping off without us

Wigga, we just want the credit where it's due

I'mma worry 'bout me, give a care about you

Wigga, just as a reminder to myself

I wear every single chain, even when I'm in the house cause we...

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team always here

Started from the bottom, now we're here

Started from the bottom, now my whole team here, wigga

The song wasn't over but we were here. I turned the car off. While Jr.  just looked at me like I did something.  "Shouldn't have did that"  Shannon said hopping out the car. "Why ?" "He gonna get mad watch" I opened up the back seat.  "Cmom buddy" He held up his hand I thought to tell me to shut up. He unbuckled his seat belt.  Hopped out the car, and walked to his mom. "Mom I'm glad you came cause daddy just killed my vibe"

Shannon turned around and smirked at me. I mean I ain't know what to say. So I just closed the back seat door, and locked the car. I trailed behind them. Once we got in the mall.  Shannon bent down and whispered in Jr. ear.  When she stood up Jr. turned around

"C'mon daddy stop walking so slow. " He said holding out his hand. "Demetri that is not what I said" Shannon said giving his arm a little jerk. "I'm sorry daddy for hurting your feelings.  You need man up like me."

I bent down to his level "Since you the man, then you have to buy me anything I want today" He looked a me then patted my shoulder "It's okay your the man. So you have to buy me anything I want for the rest of my life." I chuckled.  "Ok deal"
