"Brad!" I hear my mum yell from downstairs.

"What?" I yell back.

"Get down here, I need you!" she calls.

I sigh, I'm not feeling my best at the moment and I was quite enjoying hiding in my room. "What's going on- oh." I'm stopped in my tracks as I see my mum standing in the dining room talking to a blonde woman I don't recognise.

My mum turns around and indicates me to the woman. "This is my son, Bradley."  I sigh, she knows I don't like being called by my full name.

The woman shakes my hand. "Hello Bradley, I'm Fran, and that's my son Tristan over there." I smile at her and turn to see a tall, skinny boy stood in the corner. I can't believe I didn't see him before, I mean he was right there. I open my mouth to ask why these strangers are stood in the house but my mum cuts me off.

"They've just moved in next door." she informs me. "You know, where the Richards used to live." I nod, even though the conversation feels quite awkward. Helpfully, my mum cuts in again.

"Why don't you take Tristan up to your room? It would be nice if you could be friends, you're about the same age." Tristan opens the door and follows me out as I lead him up the stairs.

"Where are you from, then?" I ask him.

"Not near here." he says. I'm really nosy, so I want to find out more- he seems quite mysterious.

"Why did you move?" I ask. He goes quiet for a second, and a part of me wonders if there's some reason that he doesn't want to talk about it."Sorry, I shouldn't have asked that, none of my business." I say, panicking slightly as I turn to him.

"Don't worry about it." he says as I open the door to my room and we sit down on my bed. "We moved here after my dad left, it's just me and my mum now."

I never know what to say when people tell me things like this, so I decide to move the conversation on quickly. "So you're an only child, then?"

"Yep." he replies. "Are you?"

"God no, I wish." I smile and he laughs lightly. "No, I have an older sister but she's at university. So I basically am, but not technically."

"It gets lonely sometimes." Tristan says, looking around my room. His eyes widen as he spots the acoustic guitar in the corner of the room. "Can you play that?" he asks excitedly.

I laugh. "Course I can. Why would it be there if i couldn't? Do you play anything?"

He nods quickly. "Drums. My mum got me onto it because I was so angry all the time. She thought it would be healthy for me to channel it into something."

"What were you angry about?" I enquire, then mentally kick myself as I see his face fall. God, what is it with me today asking stupid questions?

However, it's him who changes the topic. He looks over at one of the photos on my wall. "Who are they?" he asks.

I point everyone out to him. "That's my friend James, that's my other friend Connor, that's me, and that's my ex Josh."

"I didn't know you were gay." he mutters quietly, looking down to his lap.

I laugh. "You've only known me about 10 minutes! Why are you so awkward about it? Are you gay too or something?" Wow, there I go again with the stupid questions, but I get an answer I'm not expecting.

"Please don't tell anyone." he says. "My mum doesn't know yet." I'm slightly surprised at that, but I try not to show it as I've already made an idiot of myself in front on this (admittedly beautiful) stranger a few times today, and I don't need to any more.

Instead, I put a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort the person I've known all of 10 minutes. "Why would I do that?" I ask him and he opens his mouth to reply, but is cut off by my mum yelling from downstairs.

"Boys, dinner's ready!" Tristan gets up and I follow him out the door. As I turn the light off, I think to myself. This really is quite an unexpected evening.

I've never written tradley before, or first person, so I hope this was ok! This is only my second fanfic, my first was bronnor (if anyone's read that book).

This is probably going to be quite a slow start, but hopefully it will pick up!
