The Vampire Girl #1 in series

Chapter 8

"WHAT?!" I practically scream at Snow. "A vampire King? NO WAY MY DAD WAS A VAMPIRE! LET ALONE A KING!" I shout. "Calm down!" Says Snow. "Let me tell you a story." I shut up and listen. "About 8 years ago, whether you like it or not, your father was the vampire King. He was a great ruler, had a lot of plans for the future. That's when he met your mother, and fell in love with her. Then he soon had you. Rumor has it that his adviser, Achlys, was jealous. She wanted to be queen! So when your mother was out, she killed King Lyall, your father, and people think that they killed the Vampire princess too, who at the time, was only -" "Five years old." We finish together.

         "So now Achlys is the Vampire Queen, and although most people have heard the story, everyone's to scared to stand up to her and her guards." Finished Snow. I see her face light up. "You should take back the throne! You're supposed to be queen! Not her!" Is she serious? "Are you crazy?! I can't fight Achlys! I just became a vampire! Wait, if my dad was a vampire that made me a half-blood. So why do I get my vampire powers now?" I think to myself aloud. "I know someone who can figure this out!" Replies Snow happily. Then, not a second later she's dragging me out the door and I'm telling my mom we're going for a walk.

         She drags me to a house almost completely made out of glass. Snow knocks on the door and waits. A girl my age enters, with short brown hair and green eyes, and I notice she has a small figure. "Snow?" "Akili!" They hug, and the girl, Akili, asks what I'm doing here and Snow explains. Then Akili is hooking me up to these machines in a lab, and we have the answer in ten minutes! "It seems like the vampire side of you was almost shut down, since you didn't remember vampires or being one. So when you were bitten, it started up that half, and changed the human half to a vampire half as well. But from these readings it seems like you have a lot of power in you. Maybe it'll unleash at some point?" She informs me.

        After that "lovely" visit as we're walking home I say to Snow "wow she's very smart." Snow lists nods. I guess she's deep in thought. A little while after snow leaves, I get a text. It's from Theo! "Saraphine, I know that you like me, and that I like you, but it's just not working. Bye see you tomorrow." I wonder why he would say this. I'll have to talk to him tomorrow. The next day, I ask him what is up, and he told me he stopped liking me when I started being "weird" and that he liked someone else now. "I can't believe this is happening" I say. "Sorry?" He says nervously. I feel this heat rising in me. I stumble to the front of the class, and my Mrs. Petrilli asks me what I'm doing, but I can't answer, not with this growing inside me.

         I see Snow looking at me weird. Then suddenly, I feel a burst of energy shoot out of my hands. I look at them, and they're on fire! But it doesn't burn me. I wonder if I can control it somehow. I concentrate on making it into a small streak of flame, and it does it! But then reality hits me, and I remember Theo as I look at him. I see the fire shoot out of my hands, towards him, but I manage to stop it at the last second. From that day forward I could conjure up fire with my hands, and everyday after school me and Snow would go to Akilis to practice controlling my fire. Akili is over the moon about this. "Wow! A princess with supernatural powers!" And Snow always gets excited. "Now you have a chance to beat Achlys!" But the thing is, I don't want to fight her.
