I look at Asa. What could he possibly have to tell me? He motions for us to sit down on red couches. "I have two things I'd like to share with you. Ok first one. The first day we met and I said I got distracted," "yeah what was that about?" I cut in. "Well, I got distracted by you." I look at him. "How could you get distracted by me?" I ask. "I don't know before I knew it I was looking into big beautiful red eyes." I stare at him, shocked, and feel myself blush. He takes a big breath. "Now the second thing. There's something you should probably know about me. I have powers. I can see through walls, and um, I'll just show you my other power." He stands up. "You have another power?" I say, mouth open. He nods and walks into a connecting room that turns out to be a weight room. He walks over to the biggest weight there. He picks it up, only with one hand! He lifts it easily over his head. "Wait put it down." I order. He does. I position myself so I'm sitting on it. "Ok lift." I say. He does, one handed, and has it above his head. "So you can see through walls and you have super strength?! I shout. "Yeah. You don't think I'm weird now do you?" I hop down from the weight. "Of course not! I have a power too." I make a small ball of fire in my hand. "Wow that's...cool I already knew you had powers though." He says cooly. "What?! How'd you know?" I yell. "Vampires with red eyes have powers. The others have normal eyes. And you said you only have one power?" He asks, raising an eyebrow. "Um yeah is that weird?" "Well most vampires with powers have two powers." He states. "Oh well I just figured my power out not too long ago. Maybe I just need to find my second one." I reply. We walk back upstairs and I sit down and start reading a random book I find in Asa's room. I can feel his red eyes staring at me. I think he's nervous about something. "What's wrong?" I ask, not looking up from my book. "Nothing it's just, you look a lot like the old vampire King." I look at him and whisper "can you keep a secret?" He nods. "I'm the daughter of the vampire King, and I've come to defeat Achlys and regain my rightful place as Queen." The words sound weird coming out of my mouth. His eyes grow wide. "I thought the Vampire Princess was dead!" He says, and I notice he leaned forward to hear me better. "Well...I guess not because I'm right here!" I say nervously. I call Snow and Akili into the room. The give me looks when they see how close me and Asa are. "I told him what we're here for." "WHAT?" They yell. "Chill! Now that he knows we can come up with a plan to fight Achlys." They glance at each other. "Ok but don't forget we need to go to school tomorrow." Akili says. I see Asa get excited. "Can I go to school? I've always wanted to go!" He says excitedly. "Sure but we need to enroll you." I pick up the phone with a sly smile. " Hello I would like to enroll my son Asa into this middle school please. I want him to be in the same class as his childhood friend Saraphine." I say with an accent, making would sound like vood and want sound like Vant. "Sure ma'am and I assume he will be attending by tomorrow?" I hear my principal's voice reply. "Yes, of course! Now I am very busy so I must go. Goodbye now." And I hang up. That's when we all burst out laughing. The next morning we race to school, and make it just in time for homeroom. The teacher introduces Asa, blah blah blah. So Asa is sitting next to me, talking to me when Theo walks up. "Hey Sara." He says like he wasn't just a complete jerk to me. Snow whispers in my ear. "Turns out Jia rejected him for some jock." I stand up. "Only my friends call me Sara." I say, glaring at him. I see Snow informing Asa what happened between us out of the corner of my eye. "Aw come on Sara, you know I still like you." He grabs my hand. I push it away. "No! I'm done with you. Don't come crawling back to me every time a girl rejects you." I say sharply. "I know you still like me! You'll come around." And with that, he slinks away. I sit back down. "What's his problem?" Akili says as she walks past him to us. "He wants Sara back." Snow informs her of every little detail as I turn to Asa. "I didn't know you liked him." He says. "I don't. Not anymore." I reply, looking at my feet. "But you used to." I just nod. The bell rings, and I rush to go to first period. I don't want to talk about that, especially not with Asa. Then, when I'm a little ways away from the line to go in, I overhear I conversation between Asa and Theo. "Hey! New kid! Stay away from Sara." I hear Asa turn around. "Excuse me? Two things. First, don't tell me what to do. And Second, she's not your girl. She's not anyone's. So back off." Woah! Asa's voice is so intimidating. "Why do you like her or something? You better not, or I might just have to beat you up." Came Theo's snarky reply. "So what if I do? I'm not afraid of you!" I peek around the corner and see Asa towering over Theo. They push each other, but then they notice me. I run into the classroom before they could say anything. It's in the middle of class when we hear a gunshot. Everyone rushed to a corner while the teacher locks the door. That doesn't stop the intruder. Three people bust down the door, and I realize they don't have guns. I see one of them press a button and a gunshot sound corms out of it. Why wouldn't they bring guns? All three of them are big, and mean-looking. They look at all of us, as if we were meat. One of them grabs Snow by the neck and throws her against the wall. I hear her scream. Then they walk up to me. I look at Asa, and they notice. "Oh this your boyfriend?" One taunts. He steps towards him, and grabs him by the neck. Asa kicks him, and the man gets pushed against the wall. But even with his strength, Asa is outnumbered. They keep punching him, and he's left barely conscious. I stand up, head pounding. "Oh the little girl gonna cry?" I blast him with fire in the face, and he yells. With a wave of my hands I have two fire whips in my hands. And I wrap each around the other two guys, and make them go sailing into walls. I slash them in their face with my fire until they can barely see, and I take them out, one by one, fists flaming. I leave them on the ground, dead, as I hug all my friends and the class is silent. Everyone is either staring at me or crying. I help Snow and Asa up and run out of the room. Asa follows me, limping. "What's wrong?" He says, leaning on the wall. I hug my knees to my chest and sigh. "They all already think I'm weird. Now they'll make fun of me even more." I say. "Don't let them. You're the Vampire Princess . You can do whatever you want! And if anyone has anything mean to say about you! Off with their heads!" He replies. I hug him. "Thanks." He nods. For the rest of the day school is cancelled so we go to Asa's house.
