The Vampire Girl #1 in series

Chapter 9

Now that I have powers, I guess I have to fight Achlys. But what would happen if I lose? I don't want to let everyone down. But this is something I have to do. I am the rightful heir to the throne. That is my place. The next day I'm walking to school with Snow. It's a cool, breezy, autumn day, and the leaves are beautiful! That's when a smell catches my nose. It smells delicious! I can't stop myself from hurdling towards it. It's a deer, and before I realize what I'm doing, I'm hunting it, and when I kill it, I don't even think twice when I drink it's blood. Wow! I've only ever eaten human food, but this.... I need more. Snow catches up to me. "Jeez! You did that?" She practically shouts. "Yeah I guess I did" "well come on we're gonna be late for school!" She complains. So we race to school, and I beat her to our home room. I see Theo, and I see him look at me, but I just ignore him. Snow sits in the back with me, and we listen to announcements. The rest of the day goes pretty normal, but there's a heat in the back of my throat, and it's making me want to drink blood. Like a craving, or a need. I am able to push it down though, so I don't go all crazy like I did on that poor deer. It's fourth period LA, so I sit down, as usual, the first one. So I'm sitting here listening to the different sounds when Theo walks by. His smell.....I want to dr-No! What am I doing? I couldn't possibly drink his blood! ...could I? I'm sitting here in class, wanting to kill my own classmate. Then suddenly, it's like the heat in the back of my throat is growing, and soon it's hunger takes over my whole body. I slowly turn around to face Theo. "Your eyes are red!" He exclaims his eyes growing wide. That's when I pounce, and he runs. But I'm too fast for him. Before he can run to the door I leap in front of him. He starts backing up slowly, and I go for the kill. In about to sink my fangs in when someone throws me off of him. Snow. We fight, scratches and bites, but she knows she's no match for me. I throw her off me, and she slams into the wall. I jump onto Theo again, when he makes me look at him. "I don't know what can make you stop, but if you can't control this, you may take my life." And he closes his eyes. Something about what he said, the words. Stop. Control. Life. His words sink into me, and I see his eyes open. "Your eyes are brown again!" He says. I get off him and run to Snow. "Snow I'm so sorry! I didn't, I couldn't control myself!" I say with worry. She hugs me. "I know, and girl you're still my favorite person!" We laugh, and I help her stand up. Vampire injuries heal quickly, so in no time she's better. For the rest of the school day everyone jumps at every sudden movement I make. Lucy and Jia keep making fun of me, so I threaten to make their pretty little faces unrecognizable. That shuts them up. After school me and Snow are walking to my house. "You really should fight Achlys!" Snow exclaims. "You think so?" I ask. "After the way you fought today? I think you're ready!" I nod. "Okay." Snow jumps up and down with excitement. So we go to Akili's house so we can embark on our journey to the Vampire Kingdom.
