Chapter 3

Shane's pov
When we finally left Olympus, I was bored out of my mind, they set up camp in Central Park. I set up about a fourth of a mile away. The hunters walk into my campsite and sneer, "Why aren't you doing the chores boy?" "Because I'm only here to help in battle, nothing else. I won't bother you, and you won't bother me." I state and walk back into my tent and prepare my diner. About five minutes later Artemis knocks on my tent flap. "Name?" I ask. "Artemis." She says. "Very well, come in." The entrance is the kitchen, she sees me eating a lobster, and the pot in the sink behind me and looks shocked. "Want some?" I ask snapping her out of her trance. She nods and says, "sure." And sits down, at first she eats little bites, but when she tastes it she starts to shovel it down her throat. "Is there a threat, Artemis?" I ask. She shakes her head and says, "No, I was here to tell you that the hunters will be back from hunting in about 5 minutes. Well actually they've been here for about 3 minutes." She says"if you wanted to spend time with me, you could have asked." I say as she blushes and as 3 hunters come in my tent bows at the ready. When they see Artemis eating they bow and say, "we have completed the hunt, M'Lady. What are you doing with this boy. " the middle one asks. Artemis quickly forces her blush down and explains. "I was here to tell him that you would be returning soon, when I discovered him eating lobster, he offered me some and I accepted. And here we are." Artemis replies simply. They nod sternly and walk out. "You should go before they get suspicious." I say to her. She nods and walks out. I sigh and walk into my bedroom, "this is going to be one long job." I say before I fall onto my bed and go to sleep.

I sense a person about to poke me. I ignore it and right before she hits me I grab onto her and pull her into bed with me. "Shane, Let me go!" Artemis whines. "You know you like it. You can either get up or stay quiet and enjoy the peace." I reply. She stays quiet and I smirk. About five minutes later she says "we should really get out of bed." I only sigh and hold up my hand with two fingers out stretched. "Two minutes." I said and pull her closer to me. She responds by laying her head onto my chest. "What are we?" She asks me. "What ever you want us to be." I reply. "A couple." She says sternly. "We are a couple." "If that's what you want Bambi." I say and smirk. "What did you call me?" "Bambi, like the movie. Since you're the goddess of the hunt. And your both so cute and innocent." I say as I kiss the top of her head. "I have to go." She says as she gets up. "Flash to your tent so that the hunt doesn't get suspicious of you. I don't want to get you in trouble." I say and pull the covers off of us. I forgot I wasn't wearing a shirt and quickly pulled one on. "See you later, moonlight" I whisper as she flashes away. "Maybe this won't be so bad after all." I say and change into my hunting clothes and walk out of my tent. "I'm going hunting." I tell Thalia and walk away. When I get farther in the woods and don't sense anyone around me I shift into my wolf form that is 6'9" at the shoulder and start running out of Central Park. "Horse!" Someone yells and I mentally laugh and just run harder out of New York. When I finally get out I shift back and grab the arrowhead. When I let go a bow appears in my outstretched hand. I hear a twig snap from behind me and spin around while pulling back my bow string, an arrow materializes on the string ready to fire. I see that it's a bear and it starts to charge at me. I fire one arrow into its skull and it drops. I grab its neck and lightning travel back to my tent. [lightning travel is when someone travels in a lightning bolt to get from point A to point B.] I start to skin my bear and when I'm done Artemis walks into the clearing. "What can I do for you, Artemis?" I ask. "Nice shot." She tells me examining the arrow imbedded into its skull. "Thanks, but it was a lucky shot." I say and start cooking the meat. Artemis smacks me on the arm and says "Take the compliment."I just say, "I'm sorry Arty."

The bear had just finished cooking when the hunters showed up. "What." I ask completely annoyed with their presence already. "Lady Artemis, what do you want us to hunt for dinner." They ask completely ignoring my presence. "Percy has a lot of leftover bear and lobster. Well eat with him tonight." Artemis says as she walks into my tent. They were clearly as shocked as I was when we looked at each other. They also didn't expect my tent to be as big as a mansion.
