Arielle's Pov
3 hours. That's how long me and Derek had been practicing and I was more tired than I had ever been in my life. Apparently, there was more to our dance routine than I originally thought. Derek broke down every step for me in the most immense detail possible, it was both amazing and horrifying. He made me perfect every single movement from head down to the tip of my toe. And 3 hours later, we were only halfway through the routine that we originally practiced one hour for. I mentally kicked myself for ever thinking I was fit enough to do this, sure, I wasn't the most unfit person, I had played 3 years of softball in high school and I recently started running 3 miles a day, but neither prepared me for this. None the less, I was proud of myself. I had surprisingly only stopped for a couple of water breaks during our three hour session and the more Derek taught me the more confident in my skills I became and Derek could tell. "You're a natural." He said as I lay on the floor of the studio. "Yeah right" I laughed back. "No, I'm serious, you're really great considering this is our first rehearsal, I'm impressed." He said as he sat next me on the floor, me still sprawled out like a starfish. "Thanks, it helps to have an amazing teacher." And I mean it, he is amazing. Even though he had been a bit hard on me, it was exactly what I needed and it never pushed me too far, he even managed to make it fun. We somehow found ways to exchange witty banter while working on the dance and even exchanged a few laughs. I'm pulled out of my sudden recollection by him strumming his fingers across my stomach, he was a weirdo but so was I, and it was obvious we were already close enough to be comfortable sharing our weirdness with each other. After a couple more taps to my tummy, I watch his face light up and I already know I'm doomed. "What's the idea?" I ask, finally sitting up. "I've decided, if you give me just one more good hour of rehearsing I'll buy you lunch." He exclaims, obviously proud of himself for thinking of the idea. "Hmm... I mean I do love food, but having to rehearse with you for another hour? I don't know..." I spit out as sarcastically as possible.
Derek's pov.
"Come on, you know you can't get enough of me," I challenge her, suddenly cocky. "As if, I will take you up on your offer though, except I'm paying because you paid for breakfast and I'm an equality type of girl, deal with it." Damn it, this girl is perfection. "Well, I can't argue with equality can I?" I say as I jump up off the floor and then offer her my hand like the gentleman I am.We jump right back into the swing of things as easily as we had left off. I can't deny that I was seriously impressed with this girl, for someone who seemed so reserved and shy at first she knew how to move and not once gave up, not like some of the women I had worked with in the past. Let's be honest, although it had its obvious perks, working for Dancing with the stars wasn't the easiest job in the world. This was especially true when I worked with some of the most diva like celebrities. They often came in with big egos, thinking that dancing would be easy yet being stiff as a mummy. Arielle was nothing like that though, she didn't have a big ego at all, she was dedicated and hard working, easy to teach, and honestly a natural. The way she was able to perfectly align her movement with mine was impressive for a beginner. And her concentrating face was by far the cutest I'd seen.
The next hour passes by faster than expected and I am both grateful and a little upset, wishing that I had more time to spend alone with this simply unique girl, just me, her and dance. But, we can't stay here forever, and I'm starving. As we gather our things we discuss where to eat, and of course, the "I don't know, where do you want to go" conversation starts. But as we're exiting the studio, I have another great idea, and the next thing you know, we're at chipotle.
