I woke up in a brightly lit white room, my head pouding. I groaned and stretched my arms up to rub my eyes, "What the heck" I muttered, noticing a bunch of tubes attached to my arm.
"Jessica?" I heard someone softly call from across the room. It was then that I sat up in bed, noticing the people scattered across chairs fast asleep.
"That's me" I replied, looking to see who was awake.
"Oh thank god" Liz said, making her way over to stand by me. "I was so worried" She added, pulling me into a hug.
"Why? What happened?" I said, trying to see if I could remember what happened.
"You dropped to the ground, clutching your head. You stopped breathing after awhile so I called the ambulance" Liz replied, a look of sorrow etched upon her face.
It all came back to me at that point, i had dropped to the ground after getting a sudden wave of flash backs.
"I'm sorry for worrying you Liz" I replied, looking up at her apologetically before glancing around the room again. This time i noticed the four boys, it was them.
"Mikey? Cal? Ash? Lucas?" I called out, hoping that maybe they would hear me and wake up. None of them woke up, so I opted for picking up a pillow and chucking it at Luke.
"What?" He groaned, rubbing at his eyes sleepily.
"Why are you here?" I questioned, going straight to the point instead of beating around the bush.
"Jessica?" He said, staring over at me in disbelief.
"That's my name, don't wear it out. Now answer my question" I repeated, waiting for the answer.
It was at this point that Liz left, waking up the other adults and getting them to leave. It was just me and the four boys now, all four of them wide awake.
"Well because, we came to make sure you were okay" He replied, fiddling with the hem of his shirt.
"Why now? Why not three months ago? Why not when I was in hospital the first time?" I questioned, trying to keep the pain from lacing through my words.
"Because uh, because it's complicated" Calum butted in, his cheeks going a little pink as I looked over at him.
"It's complicated? What could be so complicated that you didn't have enough time to come see me? I mean if we're as good friends as Liz told me we are then surely you would of came" I said, my voice rising a little bit as I was letting out frustrated anger I didn't know I had.
"We are good friends, more then just good friends. Bestfriends I would say. It's just, we felt bad. I felt bad. I blamed myself for you losing your memory and i just couldn't face seeing you" Michael added.
"I would of understood. I mean, i would of liked to understand everything earlier" I replied, a tear making its way down my cheek. I wiped it away with the back of my hand, refusing to cry infront of people.
I rubbed my head as flashes of memories started to comeback again. Snapshots of me when I was younger, diving into the pool after Luke. Clinging onto Calums back. Lying under the stars with Michael. Playing drums with Ashton. The five of us having midnight pizza. I smiled at the memories.
"Look just...you should of come seen me earlier, Dorks" I said, giggling slightly as all four of their heads perked up.
"Jessica!" Luke grinned, jumping out of his chair and making his way over to me. "I swear if that ever happens again, which hopefully it does not. We will come see you straight away" He added, pulling me into a hug. The other three soon followed suit.
"Does this mean you remember everything?" Michael questioned, tapping his fingers along the side of his chair. We had finished the hug awhile ago, and the four of them pulled their chairs up around the bed.
"Well, i don't remember everything. But I do keep getting flashes back, so maybe I'll get everything back. Who knows" I replied, smiling fondly. "I do remember that time back when we were 8 and you started crying after Cal ate the last slice of pizza" I grin.
"Oh god, shut up. I was a kid. And pizza is very important" Michael laughed, his cheeks turning red.
I sat there, smiling like a dork as the four boys retold stories from our childhood. It was slowly rejogging my memory.
