"Wake up, wake up, wake up!"

I felt the mattress sink down, then return to normal. Then continue to do this for a few moments, as if someone was jumping on it.

"Wha-what...?" I grumbled into my pillow.

"Come on, get up, get up!" Kelani's voice ordered in a hasty voice.

"Why?" I rose my head from the pillow. Kelani stood on the side of the bed.

"Training." She answered.

My eyes widened and I bolted out of bed, screaming a loud, panicked "Oh shit, right!" As I exited the room and jogged to the training room. Damn me for going to sleep late. I noticed that Kelani was trailing behind me, but quickly forgot about her as I pulled open the heavy steel door open.

I had hoped to be greeted by the usual sight of all of the guys sitting in yoga mats, or fighting, or practicing with the elements, but they were all gathered in a circle, arguing. John held a chocolate cake in his hands. He seemed clearly irritated by the others arguing.

"Uh..." I mumbled, far too lowly for them to hear me.

I heard Kelani's small steps approach me and a loud sigh of frustration. "Guys! Come on, you had one job!" She barked at the men, who all whirled around in surprise.

"Oh shit—" Ian stammered, grabbing a small kazoo and blowing it. The sound came out like a loud wheeze. "Surprise!" He yelled vacantly, looking at the other guys for assistance. He instantly slumped his shoulders down in failure. "Yeah, fuck you guys, too..."

"Wait—" I turned to Kelani. "What?"

"It's your birthday, Jade...you know that, right?" John chuckled.

"It is...? It's October 15th already?" I asked in disbelief.

"You don't remember your own birthday?" Ian asked, pouting.

"I don't think it's very important..."

"Maybe." Kelani chimed in. "But it's a great reason for me to bake my cake."

"Aw, yeah, Kelani's cakes are awesome!"

"Indeed. They're the best I've ever tasted." Davey commented, glancing at the chocolate cake with pumpkin decorations.

I smiled widely. "Thanks, you guys...I don't even know how you guys remember my birthday when I don't even remember it myself..."

"Victor remembered." Ian suddenly blurted out.

I glanced at Victor in fake disbelief. "No...did you, Victor?" I mocked, smirking.

"Yeah yeah," he rolled his eyes. "You're welcome."

I walked towards him and lightly pecked his lips. He, like always, seemed surprised about it and raised his eyebrow.

I turned towards the cake that was calling my name. "Well, let's eat this cake. I want to taste it!" I suggested eagerly.

Everyone agreed and we moved the whole thing to the kitchen, where I sliced off the first piece and tasted the sweet deliciousness.

After a while of chatting with each other, we parted ways, and Kelani and I stayed at the kitchen.

"So...Jade..." She suddenly started, grabbing what was left of the cake and placing it in the fridge.

"Yeah?"

"I'm going to be leaving soon..." She mumbled softly, leaning towards the open fridge. I heard glass clanking against each other.

"What?" I frowned upon the sudden news. "Why?"
