Prologue~
Driven under with fear; doubt. Knowing that he can say no. Knowing I can't have her. The pain in my chest wont go away, my breath was coming out fast. I am so close, he’ll maybe take her.. I thought as I kept running. My hands were heavy, my chest felt like it might explode. I looked in front of me, trying to forget the pain in my chest. I saw no one on the streets, I looked up towards the sky, it was dark with little light, It looked to be past midnight. I looked in front of me, thinking.. He has taken Romi. He’ll take her.. They're both the same. They're just like their father… I saw the house now, I began to run faster, and took everything in.
It was still the same as before, the color, windows, nothing has changed. I turned up the drive way, and ran to the door. I switched hands to move Grace as I pounded my hand on the door. It took awhile for the lights to go on. He opened the door, and walked out.
His name was Aaron Coheed, he was in his 30s. His hair was tinted bronze and was short and messy. As I looked at him, I noticed Aaron was wearing his robe, his body looked slim. He must of knew something was up cause he looked towards my hands.
“Another one??” he asked. I shook my head yes, I couldn’t speak, I was still trying to get my breath back. “Is he still doing this to you?? Why don’t you tell someone??” he asked quietly. If he only knew.. Then he might understand.
Aaron looked toward my hands, then asked. “How old??”
I looked down at her. “She was born on February 14. So about a week.” I said. “Her name is Grace…“ I paused and asked. “But… How is Romi??” Curiously of my first child.
He looked taken off guard, then fixed it with a smile. “She’s doing well. She’s very smart…” He paused and looked at me. “She has your eyes. But.. If you want, I have a few extra pictures you can have,“ he said. I smiled well I nodded my head. Aaron took his wallet out, then handed me a picture. I carefully took it and looked at it.
Romi had long white blond hair that went down her back, blue eyes were like shimmering ice. She had perfect angels to her face, the picture was her having her hands crossed in front of her. Romi looked so perfect, like her father. “She’s beautiful…” I said slowly. I looked down at Grace.
“Will you take her… Please..” I don’t want him to use her, or Romi. I thought. But didn’t say.
“Okay. But no more, I wont take anymore children from you. Your lucky Romi is gone for a few months, or I wouldn’t be able to do this for you.“ I looked at him, and gave Grace to him.
“Thank you so much. You don’t know how much this means to me.” I hugged him, and kissed Grace on the cheek then whispered. “I love you.”
The last thing he said was. “Your lucky I’m a doctor.” with a smile. And shut the door.
I ran away from their house, as fast as I could. I truly loved their father, even though he wanted children, I did too. I knew he just wants to use them. I thought. He wants to use them for a cause that I don't know about.. I looked behind me, seeing that I was far enough away to walk. I looked behind me again, feeling like someone was following me. Right when I looked in front of me again, I ran into him, I backed away.
Johns beauty was scary, his eyes that were always bright gold, were now dark. “Where is she, Emily?” He whispered in my ear. I looked away.
“Why do you keep doing this to me??” I looked down.
“I came down here for you… To have a family with you. And all you do is take it away.. But why?” He pulled my face to his.
“Cause I don’t want children.” I lied. I’m scared you’ll do something to them, I Thought.
John let go and turned around without a glance. “I’m done,” He said in a whisper, and left.
