Jayce got me in bed that night, and I slept until 8 am. That was not enough sleep at all. My face felt puffy from crying so much, and my head ached. I shifted under the covers of my bed, feeling uncomfortable. God… I hate this. I didn’t understand anything that was happening and why is had to happen to me. Everything I wished and wanted was to just be normal, “Which never happened...” I muttered under my breath.
After fighting to get comfortable I finally gave up and got out of bed. My room was pretty big, there were curtains covering the huge window that showed the city of endless light that hung behind my queen sized bed. The color of maroon was the main color of the room, which looked lovely to my eyes though it felt unfamiliar at the same time.
I grabbed the curtains behind my bed and opened them, showing the light of the city in the dim morning light. It was breath taking to look at the colors that engulfed the city. It went from gold, to red, and to white. It seemed to change as the day passed by, every hour the lights seemed to transform into a new color. It was a beautiful sight to see, this city. This city had class towers that priced the sky with their sharp spikes; leaving you wonder if the top still went up higher. This city gave me a feeling of longing and of belonging.
I ripped those feelings away and shut the curtains. I didn’t belong here. I need to be normal, not some powerful or whatever they think I am. I am a normal human girl who got caught in this mess. Yeah.. That’s it. I told myself. I tried believing the words, and it almost worked in the end until I got interrupted.
“Hey Ro, I didn’t think you would be up yet.” Jayce said from the door. He smiled a pleasant smile. I looked at him finding my eyes stuck to him. He looked to be a warrior or even a prince from a fairy tale. It was strange seeming the similarities between the two.
Jayce stood like a warrior who was strong and cocky. His stance showed me he was a warrior while his pretty face showed me a prince. His facial features were angled sharp and made his eyes stick out beautifully. His Golden blue eyes would be knee dropping for some girls, but they made her want to look into them until she was lost in the sea of mystery.
I noticed he was waiting for me to answer, I coughed, “Yeah… I didn’t sleep well. It’s okay though.” I told him truthfully. He gave me a wicked grin, noticing me staring at him earlier.
“Breakfast is waiting for you downstairs, but you can take a shower before you head down. Everything you need should be in there.” He pointed to the shower to the left of my room where a wooden door stood. “I’ll wait outside your room across the hall in Gracie’s room.” And he left for me to get ready.
After my shower and taking a new pair of jeans and a shirt that had a cool design on the back, I headed across the hall.
Graces room was as big as mine with the same window that hung behind her crib. There was a bin of toys where she stood playing with Jayce. Jayce seemed to look at Grace like a father might look at their own child. It seemed strange for Jayce to look at her like that. Its only been one day. I watched Grace smile up at Jayce while she showed him her little teddy bear, telling him her names Angel. She hugged Angel against her close, she’s always had that teddy bear with her since she was born and hasn’t left it since.
“Roo… Mommy!” Grace squealed and ran towards me, I smiled and picked her up and hugged her. I missed her, she was the only thing left of my family. Grace smiled up at me; showing her little dimples.
