Chapter 2
Ugh I'm so tired.
It's 7:00 in the morning. I have been up since 5:30. Why does school have to start so early?
I was literally falling asleep standing against the subway pole when Dan came across my mind again.
Ever since he told his audience that he was in NYC, I haven't been able to keep my mind off of him. I just keep thinking about what might happen if I ran into him. Not like that would ever happen, but I just enjoyed thinking about it.
I almost fell asleep again, but the extremely loud squealing out the train slowing to a stop. Great. Time to transfer trains.
Just then, I realized the train I was transferring to was leaving the station before i was on it.
I sighed, This is going to be a long day.

I stepped outside and frowned. It's raining. I didn't bring an umbrella.
Wonderful.
I looked to my right and cringed a bit as I saw Sammy. She smiled and waved an ran over.
How does she have so much energy?!

"...and that's why I had two dinners last night," Sammy said, finishing a long, boring, and pointless story.
I didn't even respond in the end, just waved goodbye as I walked away swiftly towards my class. I walked in, realized I was late, and awkwardly say at my desk.
My teacher's stern face got angrier and angrier, her eyes becoming slits and her lips thinning.
Finally she broke.
"Sign the late book! I told you from DAY ONE to SIGN THE LATE BOOK! Why can't you understand this SIMPLE TASK?!"
I didn't answer, then slowly I got up, walked over to the late book, and signed it. Everyone watched as I sat back down. They began whispering about me. The gossip never stops. I sighed loudly. I hate school.

Finally. I walked out and smiled at the sunlight that filled my face. How the sun came out of the rainstorm from before, I'm not sure, but there's no time to waste.
Out to lunch is probably one of the greatest inventions of the modern world. I looked around, happy to see the coast is clear. I pull on my hoodie and make a beeline for the subway.
"JULES!"
Oh no. Sammy is back.
I turned around slowly as if I had just been caught by the police.
Fake smile time.
"Hi!" I said with my fake cheery voice. She fell for it.
"Hey, Jules! For a second it looked like you were going to leave but you would never do that I think and anyway how has your day been did I make you late because I was late and omigod it was sooooo embarrassing So anyway..."
I waited for about five minutes before I quickly asked her to buy me something from a store. As she left, I ran down the steps into the subway, ripping my metrocard from my pocket and running onto the platform. My subway came pretty quickly, and thankfully, it was almost empty due to the fact that it was only noon.
The train was uneventful for a few stops, just normal subway business.
All of a sudden, however, the train came to a sudden, shrieking, terrible stop in the middle of the tunnel. My eyes widened and I stood up and looked around. We aren't at a stop... why are we stopping?
"Ladies and gentlemen, there is sudden debris on the track that needs to me cleared. We may be here for about ten to twenty minutes. We are very sorry for any inconveniences."
Oh my gosh. I hate the MTA sometimes. I sighed and pulled out my phone.
