Chapter 6

~Jules~

And life went on.

I would say in the few hours i spoke to my favorite youtuber ever, we had already become friends. But i didn't see him again after that.

Being a senior, the days seemed to stretch on forever, the weeks endless, the months eternal. I skipped a few more days of school after that in hopes that i would see him again, but those were silly fantasies of mine. There was no way that would happen.

He went back to London. I made a few attempts to contact him, but they all ended in vain. The closest i got to seeing him again was in his videos. I was back to the other side of the wall. The screen kept me away from him and close to him all at the same time.

I had hoped that I could go to college in London, but we couldn't afford any of that. I was stuck in a community college here in New York, and I would have to stay here for the next four years of my sorry life.

For some reason, people always show the days after high school to be a sudden burst into a free life where you can do whatever you want and go where you please, but after a while reality will kick in and life will return to it's cage.

When everyone else was counting down the last three months of high school,I was hoping they'd never end.

Things got worse and I didn't think they'd ever get better.

~~~
It was the beginning of April, and school had finally ended. I quickly ran down the stairs and out the school doors before anyone could stop me. Catching the subway I finally pulled my heavy bag off my shoulders so they could straighten out.
It was only 3:30, but already my eyes were drooping shut. I struggled to stay awake until my stop and stepped off the train.
The walk to my house was chilly, as the winter cold was holding on to us for it's dear life. The streets were grimy and littered with... Well, litter. I finally stepped into my apartment building and slowly walked up the stairs.
But as I climbed, I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
I stepped into the apartment slowly, holding my breath and waiting for something terrible to happen- but nothing did. It was quiet, with the only noise being my mother opening a bottle of beer.
That's weird- I thought mom didn't drink beer.
I closed the door to my room and checked for a new video- excited, I clicked it.
"Hello, Internet."
I smiled as the familiar relief washed over me.
"So, a month or so ago, as many of you know, I was in New York. It was crazy, and weird, but really fun. Especially because- well-"
He sighed. "This is going to make me sound like such a creep," he muttered. I giggled in anticipation. Could he possibly be talking about-
No, that's ridiculous.
"I met this girl. Now, I'm not going to share her name because safety or whatever, but I saw her and we were friends and then I NEVER SPOKE TO HER AGAIN," he said dramatically. My smile was wide, but it wasn't from humor, but from... Something, I couldn't really name it.
"And I feel like I really should have stayed in contact with her. So, Phil and I are going to do something ridiculously crazy."
I held my breath.
"We are going back to New York- on a vacation."
Dramatic music played in the background, as he explained they never really go on vacation at all and that this was a big thing, even if it was just for a week.
"It was sort of weird, explaining to Phil why I wanted to go across the world to meet one person again, but New York was actually really fun so it'll be beneficial to us both."
"So, to my New York fans, I will be having meet-ups with Phil and stuff. And to that one girl-"
My breath was still held. There's no way. This is ridiculous. No. Yes. No-
"-I'll see you in New York."
A familiar DU-DUN played, with a crappy explosion animation, and the sexy end screen dance began.
This was ridiculous and crazy and there is no possible way in hell that he's coming all the way to New York for me because that's not what people do. He has a job (sort of) and friends and responsibilities and-
No. No! That's just not how the world works. I shook my head.
My mom called my sister and I for dinner- but her words were slurred.
Of course. Of course she's drunk.
