Chapter Three

I sat there for ten minutes, the minutes growing longer, A few more anouncments had come on since then, mainly just apologizing and explaining the problem. I sighed a few times, and so did the four other people on the train. We were all positioned at different parts of the cart, with me in the middle right next to the large window that showed me nothing except for the window to the train next to me. There were about three people in the train next to me.

I kept looking around in the cart next to me when one boy looked up and caught my eye. He was wearing a sweatshirt, so even when he looked up his face was somewhat conclealed. Yet something about him seemed... familiar

We looked at each other for a few seconds and then we awkwardly looked away. After about thirty seconds we caught each others eyes again. This time we held our gaze for a shorter amount of time and then looked away,

I waited a few seconds, then a minute. Then i looked up. He was looking too. I smiled as he looked away, awkwardly, and he caught it and smiled at me as i started to look away, and we finally just looked at each other. And smiled. I waved, he waved back.

I mouthed "Hi."

He looked confused. "What?" he mouthed back.

"Hi," i mouthed again, with a little more emphasis.

"Oh," he mouthed back. Then he said something i couldn't quite see.

"What?" I mouthed.

He rolled his eyes, smiling, and took out a pad of paper. He scribbled something down and showed it to me through the window. It read, Are you from NYC? it read.

I nodded, then took out a notebook. Are you? I wrote.

He shook his head. I'm from London he wrote.

I thought to myself. Hey, that's the same as- but no, it couldn't be...

Oh, I wrote, then thinking for a second, i also wrote, so this is fun, huh? a nice. warm welcome.

He saw it and chuckled. Then he nodded. He had a really cute smile, now that i thought about it.

Yeah, really. It's nice here, tho. Although, the people here can get pretty rude- except you, I guess he scribbled. He showed it to me and then, losing his confidence i guess, he blushed and put it down.

I just giggled and wrote how about we exchange numbers? with the same boost of confidence.

His eyes lit up a bit an he started quickly writing his number down, and i did the same. We held up the numbers at almost the same time when the trains randomly started moving.

No.. No no no!

As the trains sped up I saw his disapointed face and one other thing, written on his paper.

Just as the trains left, i saw his name.

Under the number, it said -Dan
