Out on morning patrol at the school, Michael Thompson was already completed with the morning reports and ready to see some real action. He had put on his knee brace, just in case he had no choice but to run. He drove slow past the elementary school, then even slower by the high school. He parked his car right up front, got out, locked the doors, and went inside. Normal thing for the week. Mallory had joined the dance team, which was no surprise to him that she wanted to. He thought of how she wanted to dance with him all the time she was home, and started to feel a little bad for not doing it. He danced with her in the hospital, why couldn't he now? Because of her he was back on his feet, working harder to have a good life, and doing whatever possible to be a good rolemodel. The least he could do was dance with her, even if it hurt to do so. He thought about it as he walked around in the high school. Couples were all together, holding hands and kissing. He made sure Mallory wasn't part of that group, then smiled as she wasn't, making his way farther down the hall. He seen her locker down towards the end, and started walking there. Tomorrow was Friday and she was going to a friend's house for her birthday party. Maybe Mallory would want some money. He reached into his pocket then stopped. He decided to bring the money tomorrow instead.
"Excuse me, officer, is there anything I can help you with?" A short, but bigger man appeared out of nowhere. "Um, no,sir. This is my daughter's locker, I was just checking on it... As well as the students." The man chuckled sarcastically. "Well Officer... Thompson... We would be glad to have you here, but we don't want parents calling about having the law up here at our very fine school. There isn't an emergency, so you should really go." Michael looked at him and smirked back, already knowing what to say. "Well, Principal Scott... It was in my orders to come up here and make sure everyone is alright, and if you have a problem with me doing my job, take it up with the chief. I'm totally sure he would want to hear your complaints, because thanks for trying, but I really don't care what you think!" The short man huffed, then turned away and made his way back down the hall mumbling, "Yeah I'll give that ol' chief a call, alright!"

"Mallory Thompson, please report to the office. Now!" The class started to giggle. Mallory slowly stood up, not understanding why she was being called into the office. She only was when getting an ABBIT award, but she had already claimed it for the nine weeks. Once in the office, she was approached by a rude greeting the principal gave her. "Sit your little know-it-all butt down, and don't make a sound, ya hear? I'll putcha in a week of detention!' Mallory sat quietly and quickly, not saying a word. "Your father came by today, little miss. Let me tell you now, you can go and talk to your father about this if you please, but he is not allowed in this school anymore!" Mallory didn't let him finish, you don't talk about Mallory Thompson's daddy. "Well, no, excuse me sir, but my dad can be in here whenever he wants! He's gotta listen to what chief tells him, and you know that! You just don't like him 'cause you are dating his ex-wife and she tells you bad stuff 'bout my daddy! I'll make sure my daddy gets me in a different school real soon, that way I ain't gotta listen to your ramblin' on about how much you don't like him!" She sat down frowning. Mr. Scott was shocked by her immediate attitude. "I'm calling someone to come and get you outta my school for good!" Mallory slumped in the seat, quite satisfied with herself but a little worried of what her dad would say.
