“Nina! Hurry up dear!” my mother’s voice boomed from downstairs. Sighing, I take a last look around my now empty bedroom. The used to be covered walls, were now pale and had marks from cello-tape on them. My bed hadn’t moved from its previous position, but already looked bare and dull. It honestly was quite an empty sight.

“Nina, come on! The taxi has already arrived, come on darling,” my mother was now standing by the door, looking slightly impatient.

“Sorry mum, I thought I’d stop for another glance before leaving this place,” I told her, walking down the stairs and picking up my shoulder bag from the bottom of the staircase.

Making sure I had taken everything I needed, I walked outside my house door, to be instantly hit by the unpredicted cold wind. Well, it was England, what did I expect? Whatever it was, the weather was definitely the opposite.

The taxi driver honked at me and I realised I had been absent minded once more. My mother was already ensconced in the front seat, so I took a seat in the back.

And then we took off, the suburbs of London long gone behind me.

“So are you excited honey?” mum asked me, snapping me out of my gaze at the outside greenery.

“Very,” I replied, a short one worded answer, because the truth was, I honestly wasn’t sure.

It had always been my dream, ever since I began secondary school, to transfer to Greystone Academy. Everyone knew what it was; I mean how could you not?! Some of the most famous kids in the world go to the school, and it is rumoured that all Greystone Academy pupils are a shoe in to all of the top universities. Of course, that’s still a whole two years away and that’s nothing to think about now.

But at this very moment, I was really confused. I felt like I was going to explode. Last night my excitement had gotten the better of me, and I ended up staying awake through most of it. This morning however, I felt sick. And this wasn’t just your usual ‘sick’; it felt strange because I was feeling scared…

I felt extremely nervous, in fact so nervous that I almost considered not leaving this morning.

But this was such a big opportunity for me, and when I got the scholarship letter I made sure I had gone out and bought myself a whole new wardrobe, just to make sure I made the best first impression I could on the new people I was about to meet.

My dreams were finally coming true I guess…

Turns out I had dosed off for the entire journey here to the country side of Norfolk, which is a good 2 hours.

Greystone Academy’s campus was situated on one hundred acres of green and wood land, making it out of reach from the busy city life in England and also out of reach of the paparazzi and unwanted attention.

Of course that only applies to the famous kids at the school, the complete opposite of me basically.

I helped my mother and the driver grab the last of the boxes and suitcases from the back of the taxi and placed them on the kerb of the road, to take them inside.

“Well…this is it mum…” I said when she was done talking to the driver and had turned around.

“It is, isn’t it honey...Oh my, it feels so surreal doesn’t it? It almost feels like yesterday we were talking about the applications and now look at you dear! You’re going to be getting what you’ve always wanted!” she spoke, tears whelming in her eyes.

“It sort of does feel like that doesn’t it?”

I hug her, trying my best to fight of the tears.
