This is a prologue,

"Running away from one's enemies is often considered a sign of weakness. However, here I am, darting through a narrow street surrounded by towering buildings, under the resplendent night sky adorned with countless stars and a radiant full moon. While this night may seem magical to some, for me, it's far from it.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm running, running for my life, pursued by two enigmatic flying beings. I have no idea what they are, but my heart is pounding with fear. Desperation drives me to seek refuge behind a pile of garbage. I know those bat-like creatures are close, and I cautiously peer over the heap, watching them scour for me.

Their appearance is hauntingly human but disturbingly different, with bat wings and razor-sharp talons. Their eyes gleam as red as traffic lights. Thankfully, darkness shrouds my presence, but I sense it's only a matter of moments before they discover me. I quickly survey my surroundings; I'm trapped in a dimly lit alley. My gaze rises, and I spot a fire escape, but it's not an option. However, there's a door leading into one of the nearby buildings, which holds my salvation.

"There he is!" one of the monsters bellows, his voice a terrifying, raspy resonance, akin to steel wool scraping on a metal surface.

I sprint towards the door with every ounce of strength I can muster. The monsters close in, and their eyes burn brighter. I reach for the doorknob, only to find it frustratingly locked.

The monsters draw near, their breaths like two knives grating together. "Help!" I shout, but my cries go unanswered. Then, a sudden, deafening noise, and everything fades to black.

The pain surges through me, feeling as though the wound keeps getting doused with alcohol. I can still hear their chilling laughter.

Then, a voice breaks through the darkness. "You're late," it remarks. I awaken abruptly, sitting upright, and I touch my back, finding no wound. It was just a dream. For a moment, I'm left there on my bed, the horrors of the dream etched into my memory. Beads of sweat form on my forehead.

"Everything's okay; it was just a dream. Nothing can hurt you," I reassure myself, rising and heading for the bathroom.

My room, a modest space with a single bed and a closet, offers solace. The bathroom is adjacent. I step out and walk with the dream still fresh in my mind, pushing open the bathroom door, and approach the sink, the mirror reflecting my disheveled appearance.

My hair is a mess, strands pointing in all directions. My face is pale, and dark circles have formed beneath my eyes. Oddly, I notice that my eye color has changed from the brown I've known since birth to a startling shade of blue. My blue pajamas remain as they were.

I complete my ablutions, returning to my room. I push the door open, and, to my shock, a stranger in a suit stands before me.

"Who are you?" I question, my hand reaching for the phone on my bed to use to call for help. But the moment I grab it, the device turns to sand. "Whoa!" I exclaim, flabbergasted by the sand-like substance slipping through my fingers.

I scrutinize the stranger; he looks like a businessman with intelligent eyes and a serious demeanor, probably in his forties. His British accent is unmistakable, reminiscent of Harry Potter.

"Fear not, my boy; I've come to your abode with a warning," he declares. "You shall face the most significant challenge in this world. Brace yourself, for it will not be easy."

"Who are you?" I demand, intrigued. "What kind of challenge?"

"You shall know in due time." With those words, he, like my phone, transforms into sand and is carried away by the wind. (Oh, gods, he forgot my phone.) Perhaps he heard my thoughts because my phone's alarm rings, resting on my bed. It's 6 a.m.
