The school was deserted.

Students had fled out of school as soon as the last bell rung, indicating the end of school for the day. Nobody really wanted to stay in school late after that incident a year or so, mostly due to rumors as well, especially when there was a sewer located close to where the school is. The bullies, apparently, were nowhere to be seen since a few months ago. Nobody knows where they were, where they last seen them.

A complete mystery.

Lauren, however, wasn't scared and didn't believe in any of those. Dinah kept randomly telling her about how Karla used to have this massive crush on her but too scared to approach and how she was coming back to get her girl this time, it was ridiculous if you ask her, and she didn't know if she was joking or not. the girl just sounded too serious. But Dinah was just being Dinah, Lauren guessed.

Plus, God knows how Dinah knew about her room when she told none about it. It's not like she had any reasons to when she just moved there a couple months ago, not even a year yet, before the start of their school year. The Polynesian was quite a weird girl herself, at least Lauren would think so. But she will always be her best friend no matter what.

There was a time she caught the girl crying and Dinah never cries in a public place, such as the school's bathroom or even cry much at all unless it was serious, so it surprised and also confused her. Although it was a couple of months ago, Dinah never told her the reason and Lauren never asked her about it, she didn't want to pressure her into telling things. It didn't feel right, despite feeling like Dinah was hiding something from her and that she was her best friend.

Lauren starting softly humming the song photograph, a song by Ed Sheeran, as she picked up a few art materials in the cabinets at the back of the art room and set them up on a wooden table close to her easel and stool, before she sat down, a small brush wrapped around her fingers. She lets her heart takeover fully and started painting, still humming out the song.

As she was close to finish with her artwork, she saw a flash of white pass by outside the door, through her peripheral vision. Stopping her hand mid air, she snapped her head at the door, goosebumps rising on her skin, a few drips of blue paint dripping on the floor coming from the tip of her brush. She could practically hear her heart beating inside her chest, the silence almost killing her, deafening her because she was just so sure nobody was in this school aside from her. And a few workers.

Maybe it was just the janitor. Lauren thought, convincing herself and shook her head, looking back at her canvas, slowly moving her brush towards it.

However, She froze when she heard light footsteps coming from the hallways and glanced at the door once again, biting down on her bottom lip harshly that blood might just come out of it.

She had to admit, she was terrified, she's definitely not coming out of this room to check or even come out at all. She watched a lot of horror movies to know this. Maybe she should make a dash for it and not look back, just grab her things and go...

or call Dinah to come fetch her.

No, don't be ridiculous, Lauren. Ghosts aren't real. Karla is dead, laying 6 feet under the ground to be exact and she might as well stay there, buried and unmoving, soul probably up above in the skies. Lauren thought, taking deep breaths. But what if... No.

Lauren huffed and silently prayed, before grabbing her unfinished canvas and setting it at the back quickly but carefully. She impetuously shoved her things back inside her bag and swung it over her shoulder, pulling her phone out of her pocket.
