I smile bright unlocking the front door to the salon I was working at. I was the new manager of the shop. Which showed me that there was way more work to do then just doing hair and dusting the glasses.

Siting my bag down on my table I look at my phone to see that I had two appointment and I have to pick up a shipment from USP.

I had time to just chill before the other workers came in so I open Snapchat and which a few videos. I was low key feeling how I curled my hair I took a snap using the filter that had butterflies.

"Okay Navy"

I jump up scared, "joeanna, what the hell" I said. She laugh walking to her station. "Hey, you shouldn't be leaving the door unlocked while you're here by yourself"
Joeanna said setting up.

"I have a client that needs to be ready for a shoot at 10 so I came in early to get him ready"

I grab my coffee walking over to the door locking it. "That's cool"

Joeanna was a slim cutie who was always on her shit. She was about nothing but making her money and taking care of her sick son. She work 6 days a week but trust every minute she wasn't working she was with him. She stood at 5 foot even and had a attitude of a 7 foot monster. But once you got to know her she's the sweeties person ever.

"Hoe why the hell you staring at me" Joeanna said pulling me outta my thoughts. "Oh, no I just was thinking about how much I admire you, like, you're so strong, smart and ambitious" I said walking over the her. She look at me

"Navy bitch, you better not be trying to come out to me" she said laughing. I sucked my teeth. "Damn Joe, I'm not gay, I'm dead ass" I said sitting back in my chair.

She spin her chair to face me. "I'm just a girl trying to get my shit together so I can get my son outta that place" she said sitting back. "How is he" she smile lightly, "he's doing better, he can walk now and and eat solid food" she pulled out her iPhone 6s and showed me pictures of him.

We look at videos of him smiling and clapping along with the nurses singing to him and a video of him trying to walk.

"Yea, he's the reason I'm still here today, he's my fresh air, my heart" she whip her falling tears. "Okay,okay Ken should be here any minute" she sis walking to the back to fix her self.

"God please be with them" I said lowly

"Booty Butt get up" I said walking into Ava room. "Five more minutes" she said pulling the covers over her head. I walk over to her dresser and pick her out something to wear.

"Ava it's been five minutes" I said shaking her, she pulled the cover down and gave me a mean look  "I just closed my eyes" she said mad. "You know, if you keep making that face it will get stuck" I said rubbing her hair. "And than you'll be the little girl with the mad face all the time" I said picking her up.

"I'll can't help it" she said putting her head on my shoulder. "I just so sleepy" she said laying over my arm "why you have to work, I don't like auntie Winney, she mean"

"You like having your own room right" she nodded her head. "And you also like going shopping for toys, going to the movies and our daddy daughter days right" I said taking off her shirt. "Yes I like all those things"  I than whip her face with a warm rug. "So that's why I have to work, so we can keep doing those things"

She nodded her head "okay"

"Now don't let grandma tell me you wasn't listening to her when I get back" I said looking at her unbuckling her car seat "okay boss man" she said I laugh at her. She watch way to much T.V.

"When I get back we can go and get that new doll house you wanted" I said walking up to the door. "And that's why she's a spoiled little bart now, you give her way the much" Winney said opening the door. Ava put her head down walking next to me. I pick her up "Mind your own" I said walking pass her and going into my mother room up stairs.

She was still sleeping. So I sat Ava down and took off her shoes and jeans replacing them with her pj pants. Tapping my mother I try to wake her. "What the hell you want Whitney" she said sleeping.

"Ma, it's me, and Ava is here watching tv" I said, she look over to see Ava. "Come give grandma a hug baby" she said kissing her cheek. "You better be back here before 10 o'clock at night, this child don't need to be out that late" she said going back to sleep. I kiss her cheek "thank you and love you" I said walking out her room.

"Wait daddy" Ava jump out the bed running to me "what Booty Butt" she hug me, "Auntie Debby told me to alway hug and kiss you before you leave" she said kissing my cheek "okay bye" she said running back.

"Mhmm, you're nothing but a wast of space" Winney said walking pass me. "And you're nothing but a stink hoe, clean your self up" I said walking out the door.

"This isn't right" I said looking at Iman. "How the hell Kalya said she lost her money" I said confuse. "She said she was walking out her building and she didn't know her bag had a hole" Iman said just as confuse as me. "I know y'all niggas don't believe that" Jay the new guy on my team said. "You see y'all niggas to forgiven, I'll been pop that bitch head off if she walk up in here ten dollars short"

He stood up looking at the book bag. "She's a teenager who's just trying to get food on the table for her and her three sister and brother, they mom not even around" I said feeling unsure of what to do with her.

"Man, she just want a extra come up, she lucky y'all niggas chill, cause I woulda been like" he pull out his gun acting out what he would do

"Oh yea you lost 2gs, will guess what lil shawty, one of these bullets cost three hundred dollars, how many of them I need to get to that" he said "than once she add that shit up, that's the amount she get to the head"

"See, all that ain't needed" I said rolling up the money. Iman laugh at the foolishness he was talking "you too cold bruh" Iman said. "Hey, we live in a cold world" Jay said sitting back down.

"I'm a pretty nigga but I'm loco"
